Title My Love Mix-Up! Spoiler
You’re assuming he’s straight but he might be a biromantic demisexual. Or asexual, since there wasn’t any…
Do you know what "straight" using quotation marks means? but if you don't I'll make it clear, I don't think he's straight, but I'm saying this because that's how most japanese BL works and if you doubt it go watch/read some more dorama/anime/manga and find out why I assume he is "straight", and about being rude, let's be realist Japan can't even deal about gay thing yet, it is still too far from getting know about bi, demisexual and whatever you meant... but you know what is really rude? it is you defending them when they just brought gay topic in discussion to offend gay people associating/ labeling it by promiscuity.

I don’t know if things got lost in translation or what but Aoki did not say that. he said “ 誰でもいいじゃない”…
I dont know if you have watched other japanese BL tv shows/ movies, but in most that I've watched when there's a guy who is explict gay he is labeled by what the teacher assumed Aoki was doing, and he instead of saying something like "there is nothing wrong to be gay" or " you can't label people like that", he actually said "俺だって誰でもいいわけじゃない、井田が好きなんだ" that basically means " it doesn't mean I like/ will like anyone, I like IDA", and based how japanese BL usually are made by fujoshi japanese woman, i can assume that just like in others japanese BL manga this one is also about a " straight " guy who felt in love with other guy, because that's how Japanese BL are usually made (not really worried about offending gay people).

Title My Love Mix-Up! Spoiler
Aoki never said that he didn't like any other guy or that he was straight. Maybe what you watched had a mis translation…
if you have read/watched enough japanese BL you will notice most of them never mention the mc as gay/bi (if it is mentioned he's usually bottom), but by "a straight guy who felt in love with other guy and just by that guy". The problem is not Aoki says he only likes Ida right now, but the fact in Japan tv shows , manga when a guy is explict gay he is usually labeled by " promiscuity and having sex with old guys" and that's what happened in this show they associated gay people to that. A current example of this is another japanese BL "fujoshi, ukkari gei ni kokuru ".

i was enjoying the show until episode 8 came out. The point of episode was educating people about same sex relationship, but Japan once again in 2021 associated gay people to promiscuity and having sex with old guys, it was showed by the fact Aoki's teacher just accepted them because Aoki said he only likes Ida and not any other guy, making it clear that he is not even gay, he is just a"straight" guy who felt in love with other guy (just like the same fujoshi bullshit that's in most of BL manga).
