Okay so I decided to host an Episode 1-7 marathon (similar to the watching party we did for episode 7 thanks to user einepriseglitzer) and I wanted to check first if anyone is even interested in joining, so kindly comment or like this if you are :3
edit: okay seems like a few people would want to join, which makes me happy! I'd like to do it THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY, the day before the new episode drops. The time I'm thinking will be around 8pm JST (Japanese Standard Time) . I already made a room: https://app.kosmi.io/room/nj5njn
Kurosawa is glowing. The dude needs to control himself lol being all flirty, smiling as big as possible, doing…
I feel you so bad. Adachi is the apple of my eye, hence I am so thankful that it's Kurosawa that loves him, because I don't think there is anyone more capable of loving Adachi than him
Give me all the chaotic summaries and thoughts! So beautiful. The scene reminds me personally a lot of Donnie…
my first thought was Silence of the lambs! I really think we got too carried away with mediocre BLs that we are almost shocked at how thoughtfully crafted this one is. I really wanna sit down with the director and talk about his ideas.
I can't believe I never noticed that ''30'' in the opening shot T__T Anyway beautiful analysis of the opening…
i don't know why but it caught my eye immediately, if i had the time i'd do a full analysis of all symbols and leitmotifs i've seen but maybe i'll just post some things i find interesting once in a while
So, what has been going through my head ever since I've watched the first episode is the symbolism in the opening scene.
We see Adachi on a bike riding uphill, trying his best with all his strength, but eventually getting off and running up the street. The camera is almost static, while we see a wide-angle shot of Adachi's surrounding, him being small in the frame and while getting closer, he is also taking up more space. Usually, in cinematography the opening shot is representative of the plot, in our case, it depicts the arc our dear Adachi will be going through in the course of the show. Moving up a hill is often associated with walking up in life. What I mean with that is for example career, love or whatever ones dream might be. Adachi doesn't seem to have a clear ambition. He is just trying to get by, living a peaceful life. Yet, he is giving his best, even though it is hard. Like he does on his bike riding uphill. He finally "gives up" on his method and rather runs forward. Normally, walking would be considered slower or less effective than riding a bike but it seems like we sometimes need to take a step back and realise we don't always need another power, not coming from ourselves, to make the right move. Just like Adachi after acquiring his magic powers has been sort of relying on them, when it really counts (Ep 7; Confession) we get to see that Adachi isn't really in need of anything but his own strength and courage. Meanwhile, in this scene, we see Adachi being small in a wide shot, which might point at how he himself sees him belonging into the world. And yet, with the growing ambition to chase what he wants (love?), he finds his place and driving force. Notice also how the street says 30? For one part, it is a speed limit, one that he might as well put for himself in his life. For the other part, it could be seen as a reference to his age. His road in his 30s is conquered with a new approach, he is changing his way of life. More open and more self-indulgent. 30-year-old Adachi is going faster than 29-year-old Adachi, who we get to see after these first few shots of him riding/ running with/ and again riding the bicycle, merely walking on his own across the street.
This is kinda a chaotic summary of a few of my thoughts on this opening shot. I'm pretty sure I forgot some things because it's late but I needed to get this off my chest ^-^
It'd be fun since with episodes 1-7 we don't have to be afraid of spoiling each other (at least, the regular users…
exactly, if I assume correctly we all know the episodes by heart. What I find amazing with this show is how it never loses emotions no matter how many time I watch it. I think watching it all together might be fun
