I think some of the hate seems to stems that some people are not fond of the ML. And some assume it's only doing…
Oh, that's too bad! I've always been a fan of the whole anti-hero type of protagonist.

I mean, even a completely evil character, sprinkled with some dose of humanity can turn out to be an interesting watch.

Which is why the first 6 seasons of Game of Thrones was so interesting to me, because you could argue, there was no really evil characters in that show.

I believe that agencies, prefer their actresses/actors to be single, or for the public to think they are single.…
it's not about tolerance or not. I mean in CLOY it was Seo Ye Ji and Hyun Bin as ML/FL, and when they became a couple, the fans were very accepting.

So I believe when the actor/actress is an older age, like mid 30's them being in a relationship is more accepted. But when they are still young, maybe in their mid 20's, it would be preferable they are single. I mean imagine, having an actress who is 27, but married and with child, it changes her whole image and what not.

Everything that has Kim Seon Ho in it will be like this in the future. Eventhough the story of the drama was bang…
Most people on MDL are not professional Drama critics who went to writing school, or film school, or are world renowned drama critics.

Most of us are women and men who enjoy watching drama to pass the time. And often times, it will be because we like a certain actors/actresses. But as i've said, I feel more mature commenters can rate a drama on it's merits rather than it's actors/actresses. But of course you are right, there are hardcore fans who will rate 10/10 based on nothing more than the actors/actresses in the drama, and like I said that is ok, because MDL is the place for that to happen.

This isn't a website where we are all being paid to right comments/reviews, so of course we are going to have majority of people just gush over said actors/actresses.

And you think Homecha is below average, that is ok, that is your opinion. And maybe you are professional drama rater, and only watch the most epic dramas, and that's ok. But the rating system on MDL has never been about those super amazing dramas, but are rated mostly on the popularity of the drama, which will include the actors/actresses.

If you seek a website where dramas are accurately rated on how good it is, MDL isn't that website unfortunately.

Can I enjoy my drama in peace without anyone judging why its high on MDL? I get that it's an opinion but people…
There's always going to be two sides of the coin. You and I may both enjoy Homecha, but other's really may not. Some people may be looking for a quicker pace or more depth, and that's ok. This is not the drama for them.

And the comment section is here for us to discuss our views of the show. There are really no wrong thing to say in the comment section, let's just not attack other people or diminish their views.

We can instead debate, and analyze why some may not like it. It's the comments like "Homecha is only popular because of KSH dimples" that are kinda useless, since it doesn't open the floor for any debate, since it's such a subjective comment.

For namsook character, I fully sympathize with her loss but at the same time, I am not still not gonna buy the…
Like zone chief said, a rumor mongering Namsook, is better than a full depressed one. She is an integral part of Gongjin Village life. And to be honest, even before I found out about the tragic past, I was ok with Namsook, as I know older people often need rumor/gossip as it makes them feel alive.

In fact sometimes I see it in some of my friends faces who light up when hearing gossip or rumors. It's a human nature type of thing. It's not right, but I understand how some people crave/need it to function.

I think the show writiers might be trying to bait us into disliking Ji PD.I mean the show is also about not judging…
I wasn't actually very bothered by Namsook rumour mongering, as village life is normally pretty simple, and there is a lot of time to gossip, specially in such a small village.

I think HDS has been so good for so long, that it's lost it's appeal. You can tell that the way they treat HDS is that it's his job to fix all the town's problem. I feel the appreciation for what he is actually doing has lost it's lustre, and it's reached a point where the villagers are kind of abusing his kindness.

Hye Jin has been through some hard times, but it just doesn't show. She's been very good at ignoring her sad past, and just trudging along like a priveleged Seoulite, which is what HDS is pointing out.

I actually don't dislike PD, he seems like a nice guy, and is overly enthusiastic. It may be part of his creative process, who knows. I just don't think what he is doing in the village is sustainable. I highly doubt he can be that helpful for free for more than a month, while HDS has been doing the Chief Hong thing for years.

I agree, I think to see proper development, we need to see the villagers less and less reliant on HDS, so that he can eventually get married and settle down. There is no way he can support a family/wife if he is working minimum wage jobs from dusk till dawn.

This would be the first LGBTQ relationship in Kdrama AFAIK if true. Could be the reason they make zone chief so tomboyish as well.

Oh hi Jean! Yes I remember you!

I have been trying to catch up, I've been a bit busy so am barely keeping up, but trying to. Live airing commentary is one of the best parts of MDL!

I certainly don't have idol worship of any kdrama actors/actresses. There are some I like more than some, but not to the point that I can't criticized these actors/actresses if they don't deliver. Even Gong Hyo Jin has her weaker moments. People always just assume I am super bias because I support this drama. I mean KSH dimples are cute, but there is more to an actor that his/her facial features.

Yes! I totally agree, the whole story doesn't seem impossible, everything feels like it could totally happen to us viewers. It's not an overly complicated plot, but the strength of the character development and acting has really elevated this drama to light and enjoyable watching.

Unfortunately didn't watch Vincenzo, so I cannot comment on this. A villain as a lead? was he actually truly an evil person? Or was it just because he is in some sort of Mafia?

Honestly I'm glad she didn't, thats kinda creepy. But I am so happy he knows she was going to
I don't know, I find it not cool if a guy was going to kiss me while i'm sleeping. No matter if we're in love or what not, and I certainly would not do it to a sleeping guy either.

Sure I can fantasize about it, but to actually do it, is kinda creepy lol.

It's not a romantic thing for me. Wanting to kiss, sure but don't actually do it lol

Alright, people who think that the writing isn't special or there isn't anything new here can take a hike for…
All it means is that KSH has already reached that level of status if he has negative people who follow him from drama to drama. :D

I guess with this line of reasoning. You can argue every single Kdrama out there, is only popular because of the actor/actresses playing it.

Oh this drama is only popular because so and so has beautiful face, or this drama is only popular because so and so's fans are zealots...

So basically, with your line of arguments, ALL Kdrama's are bad and are only highly rated because the fans of the actors/actresses are crazy and are making sure that their dramas don't flop.

I learned something today. People watch Kdrama because they like a specific actor/actress. Color me surprised.

So I'm guessing regardless of how good or bad Snowdrop is, I can already ignore whatever rating it will get because Jisoo fans. Gotcha!

I think it's a normal human reaction.

The world, and sometimes life is full of manipulative and toxic people, so when we watch Kdrama as a form of escape, we can't help but be drawn to the pitiful everyman /everywoman who is just trying their hardest to pick themselves up no matter what happens, no matter how hard life slams them.

We envy the selfless person, although in real life, we can only dream of being that selfless.

In a lot of ways, we often see these characters like HJP as who we want to be.

As you can see, I am a big GHJ fan, and SHS is like a mini GHJ so I love her too. Ladies that are both not traditional beauties, but with amazing acting talent!

I think Dalmi in the beginning dreamed to be successful on her own merits. But in the end, faced with failure, she decided to pretty much be a figurehead trophy for Dosan, which is unfortunate.

Similar to tech moguls like Jeff Bezos, the guy gets all the accolades for starting the company, the wife is just seen as emotional support, and that's how convoluted the tech industry is to women.

Injae I am sure is crushing it though as a female in the tech industry.

So far I think they've been doing a great job in closing the stories of the supporting characters.

All we have left to flesh out is the village chief and zone chief love triangle, and the super cute Mrs. Pyo and Policeman, Gamri, and of course the three Gongjin Mysteries. Otherwise, I am hopefully they will be able to finish the remaining plotlines in a neat order.

One of the things I really enjoy in Homecha, is the amount of development on the side characters that flow seamlessly with the main plot. In some Kdrama, the supporting characters serve as nothing more than screen fodder and distractions, with some people even fast forwarding their scenes. In homecha, these supporting characters are so integral in making us understand the ML/FL more intimately.

BTW, is that Mr. Queen on your profile? I love that Kdrama also!

I didn't feel any animosity for Suzy to be honest, just Nam Jo Hyuk. But it's not his fault, the writer wrote him in such a petty and manipulative way. Only the most strident NJH fans were not swayed.
