I really want to rescue Saha from this show >_
She has been surprisingly a breath of fresh air.

Until she fell for Cheul San. Now I don't know who she is supposed to be.

Congratulations to Nam Joo-Hyuk for playing the most pathetic character i have ever seen, great job.
Hey hey hey!

You try crying for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

You guys don't have the crying game NJH has. He is a professional crier. Arguably the best crier of his generation.

I have heard reports, he doesn't even use fake tears, it's all natural tears flowing 24/7.

You spoke my mind!! It has been the most frustrating part to watch... Like, please just allow 'good boy' to be…
assuming the writers will allow him to shine.

whoa re JSH + LCS?

Actually, in terms of anti-hero, HJP would fit this description better don't you think?HJP does the right things,…
if someone looks good on the outside, and manipulative in the inside.

Isn't this more like an anti-villain?

Like, he's a villain, but doesn't have the normal traits of a villain on the outside?

I think to make it easier, let's just call them grey characters :)

What I find unfair is that.

Whenever NDS does something good, it's never questioned by the people in the show. They never feel he has an ulterior motive.

NDS creates noongil for Grandma. awwww

NDS tells HJP about Grandma blindness. awwww

NDS chooses SDM as CEO. awwww

NDS wants the whole SST In SF. awwww

NDS lies to SDM. awwww

When HJP does something good, it's always because of an ulterior motive.

HJP tries to stop the acqhiring. THAT EVIL JERK!

HJP tries to tell NDS he shouldn't be CEO. THAT EVIL JERK!

HJP telling Yong San the truth, after he literally ask for it . THAT EVIL JERK!

HJP telling SDM not to worry about demo day, as he will be plan B. THAT EVIL JERK!

HJP keeps lies from SDM. THAT EVIL JERK!

BONUS

Alex offers to buy SST. awwww

I mean, how about some consistency, if everything good HJP does is questioned based on the motive, shouldn't the same be said of NDS? What makes him special?

An anti hero, from the way I see it, have people see him as still a hero, but is deeply flawed in how they show their heroics or saving graces.

NDS is seen by his fans as to be completely flawless, and is often seen as the victim.

HJP fans on the other hand, are aware of his flaws, his abrasiveness and etc... yet we still see his good intentions.

And, as has been discussed thousands of times literally, NDS made the lie bigger and extended it for his sake, not SDM's.

Well, he's not knitting now isn't he? In fact, they completely forgot that persona.

He has actually shown that he has poor restraint, several times.

I still can’t believe Yong-San went through with continuing to blame HJP for his brother’s death, what a low…
HJP is in a tough position.

What makes him great at his job, is his confidence in his abilities, and his belief in doing what is right for his investor clients.

When multiple people questions his morality, and when SST succeeds despite his misgivings, it makes him question his whole life up until now.

That's what makes the Grandma scene so heart wrenching, because she may be the only person who sees good in HJP, as he himself is beginning to lose hope in himself.

It's unfortunate that SDM, who knows that HJP wrote those letters, must have at least seen some good in him as well, but she doesn't act like it. You can tell she mostly agree with the way NDS and SST look at HJP, but he defends HJP a bit because he gave her good advice.

NDS benefited from the lie the most. So I don't think he can play the victim here.
This has been discussed endlessly already at this point.

So, I won't go too much into details. But NDS actually wanted to extend the lie. Twice he did it.

It doesn't matter if he had a change of heart and do the right thing, the fact of the matter is he did it.

I am not sure what your definition of pure is, so I will leave it at that.

Why are people so hung on the "One Think" movement?

Do people really enjoy being on a platform where everyone just has one views? Wouldn't that be boring?

Its interesting how a "pathetic" and "bad drama" can make hundreds of people in here write long essays about it…
When a majority of your viewers become more invested in the secondary character than the main couple, something may be wrong with the drama.

Even DM wasn't consistent with her feelings. She said she'll still choose the the one who wrote those letters…
SDM: I don't know who is in my heart...

Saha: you should observe them BOTH.

SDM spends time only with NDS.

SDM: I choose NDS

I love her logic here.

Normally in Kdrama, whether or not there is a love triangle. The writers do not make the pairing of the FL and the ML very easy.

In Makjang's there is usually family members who make it hard for the love birds

In your standard Kdrama tropes, it's either difference of wealth status, difference of age, difference of employment status, or character flaws that are addressed by either ML or FL. Like for example the guy is too harsh, or too cold, or doesn't show too much emotions and etc... The couple would fight, because the guy would not listen to the girl or vice versa.

In love triangles, it's usually the second lead is shown to a have a legitimate chance with the girl, and thus the girl is shown to be in conflict.

In the show Start Up, I do not see any hindrance to the ML and FL. In fact, the writers are writing these perceived hindrances, that were not effective. So the writers decided to use a time skip to place an artificial, forced hindrance towards the couple, which as we see in the preview does not work. This show may in fact be the easiest path for the ML to the FL I've ever seen in Kdrama.

That is why, the journey has been tiresome for a lot of fans, there is no thrill of the chase, there is no REAL heartbreak. Just a bunch of forced emotions that do not resonate with your average Kdrama fan.

Let's quickly touch on how easy the ML and FL relationship has been

1. There was no awkward first meeting moments, no bad impressions, no flaws about NDS that SDM did not like. In fact, from SDM's point of view, NDS is perfect in every sense since the first meeting.

There was no dating stage, they were just a couple right away, due to NDS lying about his identity.

2. The family supports the coupling, both Grandma and NDS parents. So no hindrance here.

3. The one hindrance, which is the lying from NDS, was resolved less than 1 episode later.

4. Another hindrance which is the time skip, is resolved less than 1 episode later.

5. The friends all support the coupling. No hindrances here.

6. The second lead has been relegated to a cameo appearance, and the FL and SL never share any moments where you can imply they are dating. The FL shows no interest in the SL. We never see conflict in her heart, just fake conflict, which she resolves in less than 20-25 minutes of screen time. So no hindrance here.

7. The ML makes mistakes, but either the FL is blind to it, or doesn't' consider them mistakes. No hindrance here.

8. They are the same age, same work level, same wealth status. No hindrance here.

9. The ML just does everything the FL tells him to do. They rarely fight, and when they do, the ML just takes all the blame and the fight is magically fixed in a matter of minutes. No hindrance here.

I am genuinely curious if someone is able to come up with an argument of how difficult the ML and FL's journey has been, and talk about the many barriers their love have had to overcome?

From the way I see it, even fairytales like Snow White, and Cinderella had more barriers to their happy ending.

For NDS and SDM, it's been pretty smooth sailing ever since episode 2.

All I see in each and every episode is how the writer places all these artificial barriers that are either, negligible, inconsistent, forgotten, or fake.

So the audience never gets a chance to accompany SDM and NDS on their love journey, instead we are relegated to watching on the sidelines with HJP. Munching popcorn in frustration.

There is a quote saying...

"The tougher the climb, the sweeter the fruit"

I'm not surprised then, that SDM and NDS climb has left a sour taste in my mouth.

My personal theory.

The ransomware that we see in Ep. 13 preview, is the same ransomware that hacked Cheul San's old workplace.

When NDS disarmed the virus all those years, ago, he actually kept the ransomware program, or is familiar with how to recreate it, and is using it now, so that he can come in and "save" SDM again, and be the hero.

The ring box confused us
well, we don't really know it's a ring box, we just assumed it is. I mean considering how big these men's hand's are, the box looks quite big as well.

TBH, most ring boxes i've seen are made from suede type material.

But it appears the idea is being run by Injae's company, as SDM is still working there.
