It's not her intention. It's the result of her actions. She put many innocents in danger because she ignored suspicious signs of Soo Ho, and she believe everything he said because she fancies him.
The way a father raises a daughter unequivocally can be considered indoctrination. Especially in Asian culture. We don't know enough about Boon Ok's background.
4 pages so far, it's going to be a doozy. I don't expect to change minds, just open them up a bit.

It's unfair to paint all ANSP spies as villains. The show doesn't even do that. A kill is a kill, whether it's righteous or not.
The red flags were there, which she ignored. She continued to hide him because she fancied him. This becomes clear during her recording.
Young Ro is our Disney princess, her characterization speaks that, and it's against the law to hate Disney princesses.
Boon Ok was faced with a psychotic Ms. Pi who was doing in her power to push Boon Ok's buttons. You don't go to a guy/girl holding her gun, and daring him to shoot you and calling his mother every inconceivable thing if you are not willing to die yourself. I think Ms. Pi is living with such a dark secret that she doesn't mind kicking it at this point. The whole way she has acted, from the huff way she talks to the NK spies speaks of someone who isn't afraid to die.
I believe a lot of Cheong Ya's sympathy arises from her bond with Soo Ho. Her actions are much worse than Boon Ok, yet she gets so much sympathy.
Indoctrination isn't just from communist government, you can get indoctrinated in many many ways.
I am not asking for sympathy for her choice, just understanding of who she is, and why she became the way she is.
I disagree, I feel there are many redeeming qualities. I am writing a long post about why, feel free to read it.
I feel the show has been consistent in showing Corrupt higher ups, but not necessarily corrupt ANSP as an organization.…
I don't know, are they?
Covering up a son's indiscretion has nothing to do with national security. How is that going against the law? Secret service covering up Bill Clinton's extra marital affair doesn't mean they don't care about national security.
Why would the opposition party, pardon Cheong Ya? It's hypocritical of them being a democratic government, rather than the ruling party who works thanks to backroom deals.
It would make more sense that the ruling party would allow her to defect and sign a plea deal.
SH will try to martyr himself, but it's very clearly foreshadowed that one of the other NK spies will take the…
Honestly, at this point, the most emotional scene they can have, is Soo Ho, realizing Lim Ji Rok saves him and actually loves him. Soo Ho clearly has daddy issues.
That is a tear jerker IMO, for me at least.
Eun Chang says he loves his daughter, but he just uses words. For Lim Ji Ro to show his love with actions, would be such a powerful scene.

What is extra ironic is that they keep saying ANSP is bad, but then Kang Moo keeps saying, defect to the ANSP, or ANSP will take care of you, give you protection. Like what? LOL! The president even tells them, the ANSP's main job is national security. This further shows that ANSP is actually not bad, just a few guys.
I am sure some SK have, but I am also sure, some haven't.
Boon Ok - My god, this girl makes my BP shoot. She is literally the female version of Comrade Joo. Hye Yoon has…
She contacted the ANSP because Boon Ok is smart, she is not idealistic like the people in the dorm.
She knows, pushed come to shove, there is a chance they will all die, as the ANSP will kill them all, she's literally finding ways not to die. She doesn't want to be a hero.
Are you able to block me instead so I don't need to read your post.
Thanks friend!
How is that fair?
I think you just insulted Jung hae in...
But Kim Hye Yoon's excellent acting has brought the character of Boon Ok to life.
And I have this need to defend her character, because it's actually quite well written, unlike the other characters.

Nam Tae il is already being shown as being on his way out on the totem pole. So it's entirely possible. He said defect to ANSP.
That's why I already know she is going to martyr herself later.
I am writing my defence of boon ok, so far 4 pages, and my wrist are getting achy lol!
I may have written a short novel when it is all said and done, there is just so much to talk about her.
