@sakie, I'm kinda agreeing to your thoughts too. FL in recalling her tragedy, she said she heard the driver called her mother "sis-in-law" before he killed her and her baby brother. Then someone chased FL to the river jetty where she was slashed and fell into the river.
I think the killer was Rong Dingkun as he thought he saw his old buddy when in his state of hallucination (with opium) looking at FL. Rong may hv killed FL family because of greed. I'm also kinda suspecting the wealth that Rong Dingkun initially has was stolen from FL's birth parents.
