I have finally concluded that I don’t know what I would do w/ my life once this drama ends. This tandem is beyond anyone could ask for. I just want to say that I’m learning so much and it made me want to educate myself more. MY’s character development(there’s probably more than this) : -from someone who lacks empathy to sympathizing the people close to her -lowering her guard down such as willingness to dress down (showing her weakness/vulnerability) and slowly displaying her playfulness side -subtle ways of showing her longing for meaningful relationships. Wanting an older brother like ST, rekindling her relationship w/ KT, running to Juri’s mom (yes, her intention was prob to talk to KT but tell me you couldn’t see warmth and longing through her eyes) etc. After seeing all these it makes me wonder if she was a misdiagnosis of ASPD. Her closed personality could have been due to how deeply scarred and badly manipulated she was by her mother and the fact that her dad almost ended her life. Ofc don’t take my words for it this is simply my opinion. But to me it seems like two terrible cases of childhood trauma that one chose to generate their scars by suppressing and the other through grand gestures and putting a facade. I am aware that ASPD cannot be fully cured or easily managed but seeing her go through self-discovery w/ willingness to abandon her ‘normal’ life says differently about ASPD. Also, to me this does not scream toxic relationship. Both have slowly come to face their scars without overstepping and forcing a certain feeling on each other (i don’t mean romantic).
Such an emotional rollercoaster episode and probably more coming tomorrow. I’m glad that I’m more accepting of going through the ups and downs of this drama compared to the others that I’ve watched. Typically I’d be super anxious and just want to get to the good parts but it has always been different with this.
I’ve seen a few comments disliking ST and his behaviour (I acknowledge that they understand so this isn’t meant to be hate) but I believe this drama does not only want to educate its audience about mental health but also about people w/ developmental disorders since it plays a big part in the show. I’m not saying ST has mental illness since it has not been mentioned (that I know of) but people w/ autism can also develop ptsd and for all we know what happened in the lake could have been traumatic for him. And just like KT who suffered through his mom’s words, it could have been the same for ST who suffered through his brother’s words. I think people should not overlook that just because ST has ASD. I don’t think he overreacted at all knowing he is more susceptible to emotional sensitivity and the fact that the way he came to know it was overwhelming.
Huge props to Soo Hyun for pouring his heart out at the end, it was well delivered.
I don’t know why I’m only now commenting this but I really enjoyed this drama. The only thing that I did not like personally is the fact that they had to bring up the typical ‘stop dating my daughter cause you’ll only bring danger in her life’ card then to be resolved easily in a super cliche way. Understandable? Yes, but the show is not heavy on romance to start with and both main leads already had a lot on their plate. Idk, just felt a little off that it made me skim through some of the scenes. I think they could have done it without it.
did it ever cross to your mind that maybe moon young killed sangtae and kangtae's mom cause i really do...
Oh wow, that would make her the same age KT was which was what 11/12? Hopefully not but I highly doubt. I think her childhood trauma would have been too severe to carry on to adulthood and still act close to normal. Let say it was done on purpose, she would have been completely stripped of humanity and I don’t think building normal relationships would be possible for her because that would make her a murderer. If that was the case and she still ended up having a romantic relationship w/ KT I think this show would get a whole lot of criticism and everything would go downhill. Not only that but when KT finds out she’d have to end up locked up either in psychiatric ward or jail. Just my thoughts :)
I watched currently airing dramas but I didn’t care for the promotional videos. Haha. So I’m not sure. But…
Ah yes! My guess is it could be due to the pandemic. Seems like The King (didn’t watch it, i just noticed it) did lack content as well compared to CLOY which had a ton not just from swoon. Sad for us but hopefully they’ll release more soon :(
Can someone help me out. I typically let dramas finish airing before watching (the actual drama or anything related to it) and this is one of the few I allowed myself to follow weekly. Are the amount of promotional videos a little off (restrained?) or is that normal? Or maybe released towards the last few episodes? Idk, I also thought it could be due to the pandemic.
This is probably a little cheesy but I’m super happy this discussion section exists. I enjoy reading constructive criticisms, opinions, and hypotheses (and be a fangirl as well hahah) . It somehow helps me get through the days in between episodes.
he looked so free at the end like a huge burden has been lifted off his shoulders fuck man I'm so happy for him。・゚ヾ(✦థ…
Exactly, this is probably going to be the biggest hurdle of these characters. It’s honestly making me a little nervous because I’m hoping this doesn’t turn up to KT having to choose :(. Anyway, let’s all keep watching!
I’m so happy seeing this trend on twitter a lot and getting a ton of love from international viewers. Though it is that way, I still hope to see a rise in local rating. I’m sure it will boost the confidence of IONTBO team and as well pave the way for audience to understand and be comfortable at the subject of mental health.
I’m kind of dreading for this conflict to arise because i’ve always seen ST as the peacemaker between the 2. Anyone else? Anyways, I’m sure there’s going to be lessons that comes w/ it and we will get to discover more of their characters.
What is meaning behind the song “Clementine” that Moon Young mom sings to her. Mentioned by her father to…
It is about a father who had a daughter named Clementine. He loved her dearly and one day Clementine fell into the water but the father didn’t know how to swim so she ended up drowning. I guess in relation to the drama it was about a father who couldn’t save his daughter but instead of physical death like in the song it was more of emotionally dead (?). Not sure if that makes sense, I guess you can associate it w/ being a psychopath? He seem to see his wife so much in his daughter, who shows to be emotionally detached, and may be wanting to save her from that but couldn’t find a way to.
I felt like I sighed, cried, and smiled with each characters as I witness them finally cut off what’s weighing them down. This is definitely a healing drama, it is by no means going to instantaneously change someone but it could be a turning point to some. There’s something so comforting and reassuring at seeing this show break the barrier around the stigma in mental illness because everyone is fighting their own battle. (Ofc, viewers need to take into account that this is a drama and healing does not happen overnight) To most, from the hospital staff, strangers, to the closest ones to MY, they see her as the protagonist. She is often portrayed as a wrecker when in fact the most scarred character is unknowingly bringing light into their situation and along the way slowly discovering herself as well.
