I agree with some comments here about MDL becoming tabloid-like, with issues being sensationalized and negativity being the norm. This has been my complaint about this site for a while now. However, positive articles such as in above link don't get much reaction it seems. Actually, isn't this the reason negative articles seem more favored on social media, coz they incur more reaction? Click baits seem to really work. I'm not happy about this, just musing about human behavior.
Huh. how come I just saw this now. For once, a positive article on Dylan but nobody seems to have seen this. Thank you, author, for this piece about Dylan Wang and Meng Ziyi's new drama. I agree, it's going to be legendary!
Dylan Wang had nightmares about stalkers invading his privacy. So, a sasaeng coming so close to him that he could swat her phone away might have just triggered more nightmares to come. What kind of people are these sasaengs that they can't respect boundaries? There have been cases of celebs who have been harmed by "fans". Who can know which "fans" would go berserk? Is it any wonder then that these celebs would try to defend themselves preemptively?
This article is surprisingly neutral, considering I have found MDL to be extremely anti-LMH. For example, the comment pages of The King Eternal Monarch and When the Stars Gossip are absurdly negative. I actually enjoyed both dramas, but antis seem to take morbid delight in smearing LMH's dramas. Though Pachinko was somewhat spared. Antis probably couldn't smear Pachinko too much because it got the thumbs up of Hollywood, and anybody smearing it would just expose either their envy or ignorance.
I really hate the Chinese Entertainment industry. So corrupt. So dirty. If not for Dylan, I would gladly say ta-ta…
Might he be the owner or an executive in the Hebei media company? A few weeks before GOTD aired, a smear campaign against Didi and GOTD started. Apparently, one of the netizens paid to smear him was his fan who did it for the money but got guilty and blew the whistle. He told Didi to be careful because somebody in C-Ent wants to take him down and has more or less 200 million rmb budget to attack him and GOTD.

I feel like crying for Didi π What he went through with PAAA is bad enough, now he has to spend 4 - 5 months in what might be a hostile work environment. I just read about a powerful businessman who keeps attacking Didi because Didi is not in his company and is taking resources from his boys. Is it JSK?

Oh no, that's even worse for PAAA! To be pulled into the CNY slot as a filler with no authority to refuse! I feel like crying for the whole crew! How could C-Ent do this to hard-working folks in its own industry? Grrr, I really hate C-Ent!
And this new controversy just makes me hate it more. No wonder Didi looked miserable during the booting ceremony. I had a feeling this Yin Tao is up to no good. Liking a post smearing Didi confirmed my suspicion. Does the director have any say on the make-up/styling of actors/actresses? Didi's styling in the promo posters is not flattering to him. They made him look old. I hope the director does not sabotage him.

Hi, it's great to see you here again π I have taken a step back from toxic C-Ent. The last cdrama I watched was GOTD, having gone back to western dramas and movies. But I can't NOT support Dylan when he is bullied like this, with Per Aspera Ad Astra. Is it true, the movie was invited to join the CNY lineup AFTER all good screen times were filled up, so the movie was left with 1am to 4 am then 10 pm screen times? That is truly despicable!
Not only they gave PAAA a tiny bit of screen times, they are shown at inconvenient times after midnight or early…
I really hate the Chinese Entertainment industry. So corrupt. So dirty. If not for Dylan, I would gladly say ta-ta to C-Ent. What can an actor who refuses to play dirty do?
Will be hard to take him seriously in a costume drama after Dafeng.
He also did heavy drama in Dafeng. But that's the wonder of Dylan. He's a great actor who has a broad range of talent. He can make you laugh, swoon and cry.

Continuing from my discussion about ratings and what it means to study the terrain and "When in Rome, do as Romans do". Let's say I'm rating Drama1 which I like better than Drama2 which has a rating of 8 but I like Drama1 less than Drama3 which has a rating of 9. Drama1 will therefore get an 8.5. If I like a drama better than one that is rated 9 or more in MDL, I give it a 9.5 or 10, depending on how much I love the drama.
I don't give a rating below 8. This is because I drop dramas that don't deserve an 8. And I delete those dropped dramas from my list and I don't comment about them either.
It's not just me who does this. There are others, too. We believe that people's tastes are different, that a drama I like might not appeal to somebody else and vice-versa. So we try to be considerate of other people's tastes and try to lessen the negativity in social media, including MDL.

Dramas should be rated in full, not for cherry-picked scenes. If you're not interested in understanding the story and characters of a drama, how do you rate them in the first place?
I have stopped believing in ratings, that is, I don't depend on ratings when choosing shows to watch. However, reading other people's views about MDL ratings have given me an idea of what are considered good and bad ratings here. It seems ratings below 8 are considered bad such that some people only consider watching dramas with at least a rating of 8. You professed to love this drama but gave it a rating that users consider bad.
Ratings do not have universal meaning. In Viki, it seems 9 is the equivalent of 8 here. That is, in Viki, ratings below 9 are considered not good. In Imdb, ratings are all over the place. Mediocre cdramas and kdramas get ratings above 8, even 9. But there are really good western dramas that have ratings in the 6s or 7s. Such inconsistency just shows that ratings are virtually useless.
While I don't depend on ratings for my choice of shows to watch, I still have to rate shows that I watch that is why I try to know the terrain to be fair to the dramas. "When in Rome do as Romans do".

Your comment says, "First 20 ep are boring business talks..." Anybody with no inkling of what OFL is about and reads your comment would think the first 20 episodes deal with nothing but boring business talks. A blatant lie, since the first 20 episodes deal mostly with the development of the characters and their relationships, with a sprinking of business talks. And many people who are interested in the story and characters didn't find the business talks boring. Those business talks give the viewers additional information about the characters. Your comment is actually parroting a negative review (see the review section) that is loaded with blatant lies and negative hyperboles. These types of reviews have been used by antis to attack Only For Love.
My most favorite romantic moment is their first face-to-face meeting, when Shu Yi pretended to borrow Shi Yan's…
It is absolutely romantic how Shi Yan has not forgotten Shu Yi since he first saw her 3 years ago, indicating she touched his heart. And brushing off her flirtation indicates he knows sheβs not the coquettish vixen she is pretending to be thus he does not wish to engage with her fake persona, even though her besotted eyes were telling the truth.
This scene promises a tale of a complicated relationship between colorful characters. βLove it!

Did he mean the end of roadshows, or stopping the theatrical release altogether, including overseas?

A 7.5 rating hardly shows love for a cdrama.
