Both dramas were kinda meh for some people. I personally find Doctor Stranger better than Emperor. Except for female lead, DS had very good ML, SFL & SML, performed by good actors like Lee Jong Suk, Kang Sora and Park Haejin. Most viewers including myself are not fond of female lead actress and also her character there.
Emperor were a sageuk drama who lost his roots. Even the lead actors, Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun's fans still treated this drama as a nightmare/worst choice in their respective careers.
I'm saying that for second female leads in both dramas. Both had love triangles of 1 man with 2 girls. They both had the best SFLs in k-drama history.

About that, actually there are two dramas I had second female lead syndrome. I was rooting for SFL with ML. They are Doctor Stranger and The Emperor: owner of the mask. These two SFLs were good girls, so different from normal bitch SFLs from other dramas.
