One of the 3 main characters... Since they cast JCW as the magician he might get more limelight...
I was going crazy thinking I am one of the odd ones finding HIY and LJG similar looking....and YYS and sehun xD xD xDhowever sehun looks older than what he is, while HIY looks younger :P the makeup difference is *quite* evident b/w lovestruck and BR...I think some of it has to do with the beachy, golden-ish hue of not just the cinematography, but also the characters themselves!
Since it was a webtoon they needed a metaphor like that as they cannot show the change through expressions or…
Maybe Blinders...to signify he was speeding across his 'asphalt' road with a singular focus, so much so that he couldn't observe the flower-fields on the sides of this road.... Or maybe like an invisible anchor tied to his ankles...? His 'balloon-head' is only visible to the readers of the webtoon, as its quite clear that all his classmates view him, as the handsome guy he is. Thus, the metaphorical 'invisible' prop...?

I found the magician (even his older self) exceedingly innocent looking (not child/ infant like innocence, but worldly-innocent)...I only hope jcw gets it right, because I remember seeing glimpse of the same innocence in his healer character!...I wish LJG was a tad younger, because I feel HIY and him could pass off for brothers, and I want them to be casted like that someday!... Totally can see KSH as well, as well as the resemblance of jcw with baekhyun. You're right, we need a strong actor for the flashbacks, because that's when he starts slipping and falling off the rails! ^^
Aha, no I meant Ah-yee would date Il-deung not because the Magician is out of the picture... [agreed, she wouldn't do a dis-service to either of her relationships with the magician & Il-deung] but because it would be *poetic* to show them together in a contrasting light to the Magician...who, if would have taken the 'midway' route like both Ah-yee & Il-deung, wouldn't have turned into a complete societal outcast, and maybe even dated his female class-friend (the pregnant lady who is married to her college-sunbae now), which he obviously didn't..... almost like a *contrast* to what & how the Magician's life could have been like, had he not gone off to the deep-end! I can see your head-canon materialize too!..

Oh my god, you're right!... I think DoHyun's sweet home look is QUITE close to Il-Deung's... infact even Kim DongHee fits the bill...though I haven't seen KDH or LJW acting yet, and hence picked LDH... hmm, can we think of youngsters who resemble JCW for the flashbacks? I would DIE if they picked Taehyung (from bts) just for the cameo, although that's highly unlikely (i think the two resemble a tiny bit)... Infact, I think Song JoongKi looks more like the Magician, with his pixie hair since his DoTS days, but we all know he's sticking to action roles! T_T
So you think they'll give him a prosthetic chin as well? Haha

The artwork is so unique and manga-esque, I don't think *any* of the two male actors look anything like the characters they are supposed to portray. Especially HIY. Thus, my initial view that the female actor should 'resemble' Ah-yee, or atleast have her vibes...I no longer think that's a necessary criteria. Besides, makeup, costuming & props department can achieve wonders these days. Thus, my only hope is they pick an actress who has equally good acting-chops like both the male actors...doesn't matter if she's of JCW's popularity level, or HIY's...or even a fresh-face! :D
As head-canon though, I'd like to theorize she eventually would end up with Il-Deung, because we see their journeys, especially Il Deung's mirroring that of the Magician, TILL the point he actually decides to take a midway (between following his dream, yet sticking to societal norms)....Since, he didn't become a total recluse, like the magician....taking this contrast into account, its likely Il-Deung would end up dating Ah-yee, *just* because the Magician did *not* get together with his female school-friend.... But that would be cheapening the plot, and besides that's solely my own interpretation!... ^^
the 6-ep length is ALSO giving me good hopes, netflix won't unnecessarily insert a romantic-angle to this!... I agree, I think one of the charms about the original work is *how* unconventional the relationships are, esp amongst the Magician and the two schoolkids; you can't really describe it with a word....the closest I can come up with is 'saviour' & 'mentor'.... I would LOVE to see them capture the nuance of this relationship, exactly how it was done in the webtoon!...

The webtoon had a pretty even focus-distribution between the magician & Il-Deung in terms of character development and frames. But since, billing is everything in k-dramas, I agree, the magician would probably have more screentime, since jcw is playing him! :/ Though, I am SUPER happy with his casting. He kinda does well as characters rejected by the society, and has that slightly 'crazed look' in his eyes! :D
Ah? I thought Il-Deung asked her out a date in the last episode of the webtoon, and she kinda agreed? ^^ Also, the Magician eventually went away... so unless they shove a romance down our throats, the 'first' ML (jcw) wouldn't be dating her either, after the time-gap!
