This is spectacular! Can't wait to watch this drama. This same cast played in "The Confidence (The Controllers)". The ML played a criminal that was obsessed with the FL. The FL was very smart and wasn't a push over. She finessed him right to the end. It wasn't the best written script but their chemistry together was amazing. And some of the espionage triangles were genius. You can find it with subtitles on YouTube.
I will support any of the xianxia if there are no weird misunderstandings, no memory erase of one of the main…
I’ve watched the first 30 episodes and it’s wonderful. The plot and character development is one of the best I’ve seen recently. The visual and special effects CGI looks amazing and is really well done. The costumes could be better but it is a minor detail regarding the larger script. Dylan is cast a the ML and his acting is superbly done. You can tell how much he has developed over the last couple of years since Meteor Garden. In the first 10 episode the FL’s voice is annoying. At first I didn’t get it but that is part of her character because her root was damaged when she was an Orchid. As the story progresses she become a very strong character with inner strength love loyalty and is a good influence on the ML. The ML starts off as a ruthless supreme devil. She restores his emotions that were ripped from him as a child so that he could control hellfire. What I love about the drama thus far is they always make decisions based on their loyalty for one another. This at neither has “sacrificed” or abandoned their relationship for the greater good. He always protects her and she him. No forced separations or a bunch of misunderstandings. So far it’s been great and surprising to watch bc it has so many new relationship elements. I even think there a hent of brotherly love btw the God of War Chengheng and the bad guy Rang Huo, if you know what I mean.
This is a really good plot and character development. By episode 18 I was hooked. Dylan W. as lord Dong Fang Quingcang is awesome and to see his acting growth. Episode 14 -18 are the best. Gorgeous cgi and FL costumes are nice. Can’t wait to see how it ends.
Please let me clarify further. The ending of this show was it's weakest part. It is almost as if it was written…
My first Asian melodrama was “Meteor Garden”2001 back in 2016. Since I’ve watched Chinese, Korean, Taiwan, Japanese… it has been a wonderful journey and a great diversion from the regular dramas. I live in the USA and need something more carefree and a HEA. So I use these dramas for escapism and learning new languages. Thank you for your honest take.
Thank you for your review. I watched the trailers and was thinking, this show has every trope known to man including the jealous love rivals, wow! So I wanted to know the end before I began… is it work 29 hours of my life? I think not. I’m too old to live with false burdens. I have too many real ones to deal with. So I’ll rewatch “You Are My Glory” for a HEA.
I agree with your assessment. I gave it a six because it was predictable. My all time favorite is LOVE O2O, and this doesn’t come close because of their lack of chemistry. But this cdrama is more closely related to GO GO SQUID which has the funniest episode (7) because they were willing to let the characters be somewhat real. There was no laughter with these characters. Like watching ice melt. Cold and boring.
For some reason I can not get into Story of Minglan. I’ve tried watching it and after everyone’s comparing…
You should start Min Lang at episode 32. Ep 32 is my favorite and then 40, 23, 52. I skip around a lot. Ever since I watched 48 episodes of "King's Woman" and saw the ending I always try to start at the last episode to see if it is worth a week of my life. If it is a tragic ending I skip it. The fact that I started this one thinking it was only 35 eps, I am truly disappointed in myself for getting hooked.
I agree with you about everything. This drama failed to have a character or reasonable story arch. The writing and story development fall so far short that I questioned why they made it into a drama. I thought the ML and FL were well matched but the writing left huge wholes in the story line and you just had to guess when she got pregnant. There are over 2 billion people in China but they act as though no one is having...
STUCK IN THE MIDDLE ..episode 13... they aren't advancing the story. We know 2 thing more about the past relationships between Zhong, Lady Meng and her roommate than we did 3 episode ago. The pace has slowed down too much or they are stretching the story too long for ratings.
"Meteor Garden" 2001 was a drama that centered around a love story. It was heart wrenching but in the end the characters struggles were fulfilled. "Meteor Garden" 2018 was a rom com and so is "Count Your Luck Stars". Neither of the last two display the same depth or breathe of emotion as the 2001 drama. Meteor Garden 2001 was a classic and in the same stratosphere as "Autumn in My Heart" and "Stairway to Heaven".
Acting wise Jerry Yan has great Charisma on screen. He's able to project intensity, attraction, anxiousness, or calm presence just by his expressions. He creates the mood just by being in the room. He acting capability is just in a whole different stratosphere compared to the other actors on screen. I think this drama will be good but not a classic. It will just be another in a long list of rom coms.
wow must be one of biggest age gaps in dramaworld history LOL! not saying it wouldnt be a good or great drama,…
You're right. Its a huge age gap compared to other Asian rom coms. Acting wise Jerry Yan has great Charisma on screen. I like your review. I realized what was missing from the drama... dialogue. The two leads never really discussed why he was leaving or what he'd done to get the position over seas. He just left her behind. The lack of dialogue even arguments equals a lack of intensity and emotion.
This is another take on "Fated to Love You". But in 2020 and 5 versions later the FL role is outdated and over the top. Why would Muay love a guy who is this self centered, mean and childish. Makes me wonder about her logic to fall for such a person when there are a billion ppl in her country. She musts be crazy to love him or just "crazy".
I love this romantic drama. I like the fact the ML knows who he wants and is very clear about who he doesn't. He prevents others from interfering in his relationship and doesn't get caught up in other's devious schemes. It is very a refreshing story line. The ML is very supportive and caring. The FL has a great character also she is kind and nurturing without being stupid. She dosen't get caught in the other woman's jealous schemes. The bond between the sisters is also joyful to watch. It is very family oriented. I think it deserves a 10.
Maybe it's not your taste and is understandable. Not sure why you don't see. These two chemistry carry from their…
You're not alone. This version is what I call PC (politically correct). It only touches on the human flaws and characteristics we all have. They don't take risks with his character only make him immature and indecisive. The other versions the ML was more corrupt but showed tremendous growth by the end! The FL was immature and grew into a better, stronger person with many achievements. They were more suited to one another by the end of the drama.
i was thinking the same. just watched the korean version the other day it was cute they even had twins at the…
Jang Hyuk, who is the Korean actor in "Fated to Love You", is known for that over-the-top laugh/ sneer. He is so good at getting into his character once I only recognized him because of his laugh. He also stars in "My Country: The New Age".
