And, here goes another series. I will miss them, both GreatInn and AoudBoom AND obviously their characters.
Loved the drama - it might not be everyone's cup of tea because of the slowpace and the period setting, BUT it was very well done. Excellent cinematography and all actors did an amazing job. Lovely music too, and very wellmade costumes. I was hoping to see a bit more from Thee's father second family and more MekDech - most secondary characters were actually very interesting... but I get it, they had to focus on the main couple.
Hopefully we'll soon get other period dramas with a m/m couple, fingers crossed!
I'd love to bingewatch this twice as fast, but as someone said in the comments, you really need loads of tissues to survive almost every episode! T_T I just finished episode 17 and I hadn't cried so much in ages, maybe last year with Century of Love or the year before with IFYLITA...!
I'm really loving ALL the characters (set aside maybe for the female lead, who's a bit bidimensional - I get where she comes from, and I get she's witty and pure, but I can't resonate with her) and ALL the subplots. The grandpa god T_T why T_T and I hope we can get more from Ying Lei, he was probably my favourite up to now! Such a cute fluffball of positive energy!
Sidenote: the aesthethics are marvelous - aside some minor CGI things, but ALL the costumes are mesmerizing, the makeup is gorgeous for every character and even the sideroles are dressed perfectly! And, one more thing: WHERE DID THEY FIND ALL THESE FREAKING GOODLOOKING GUYS??? All the cast members are so beautiful - like, LiLun is probably the sexiest villain in the world! o.o
I sooooo agree with you! I watched this right after The Untamed and I probably liked this even more than TU -…
Oh no no, I started TU three times throughout the years but never managed to go past the first couple of episodes, I always gave up around the 4th or 5th or so... I just couldn't get into it, and that happened until last month when I started it again. I had just finished "Returned Master" (https://kisskh.at/770875-jiang-jun-jia-de-xiao-er-zi) that I really loved and I was looking for a similar mood, so I gave TU another go. And this time, I got hooked so much that I think I bingewatched the whole 50 episodes in like... a week? ^^'
Now I'm waiting for the paper copies of the novel to read that, AND after I read the novel I will watch the animated version too. :D

Ahahaha, same! I was pretty surprised to know that the budget for this drama was not that much too: imagine what they could have done with a full budget AND without censorship! (Although I really love the subtlety and the literary quotes - they really manage to make everything so poetic and elegant!).
Hope you enjoy The Untamed too! For me, it was a drama I always wanted to watch but never managed to get hooked: last month I started it for the third time, and... it just resonated with me! This time I couldn't stop watching and I'm happy I gave it a chance, it's a bit heavier than WOH but the characters are equally charismatic!
Have been avoiding Chinese censored stuff bcs Addicted really hit me like a train & I was so sad about it…
I sooooo agree with you! I watched this right after The Untamed and I probably liked this even more than TU - Wen Ke Xing and Wei Wu Xian are both unforgettable characters, and so are the dynamics between WKX&ZZS // WWX&LWJ... but Word of Honor was so aesthethically pleasing in every scene, it really reminded of a beautiful, complex dance in which every character played a role gracefully (in the bad or in the good terms).
As I expected, after finishing the drama AND the novel, I keep watching tons of FMV each and every day because I miss Wen Ke Xing and Zhou Zi Shu so much! <3
Keep bingewatching and on ep11 right now... such a rich ride: very fun moments, but very emotional parts too! It made me cry at every secondary character's arc already - poor demonfish! Poor brother! Poor puppetdemon! T_______T
This might not be the best series ever, nor the most original or incredible, but for sure JimmySea are the most natural among Thai BLs fixed ships. They nail every scene, every mood, every sync and every feeling they have to deliver. Everytime i watch them, I forget I'm watching a drama because they look like they're completely owning their characters, bringing them to life so well.
Who would've thought those delicate hands he cared for, will one day pierce him with the very dagger meant to…
Thank you for this great comment, you said everything perfectly!
As always, being kind and just requires much more strenght than simply "being strong". Although he didn't want it, Shu He was the only one fit to be King because he truly and deeply loves his family and his land, and for the "greater good" he gave up his own desires.
"Where Shuhe saw duty as love, Zi’ang saw love as duty." Love this, well said!
whathappenedthesetwoepisodesomg!!! I absolutely didn't expect all the chaos AND all their moments either!
Plus, I will say this over and over again: Shu He is one hell of a character! His inner strenght, charisma, elegance... he wanted to live like a commoner, but he has always been the only true king inside - proud, righteous, loyal! I wish this series had more episodes just to see him play the zither, watch the pear blossoms, and be a great ruler loved by all!
I keep feeling the storytelling is a bit confusing, like if something was missing or badly edited&connected.....…
And, again: Shu He is such a great character, perfectly chiseled and rendered... plus the actor really gives him a soft yet charismatic grace and elegance! I love him!
I keep feeling the storytelling is a bit confusing, like if something was missing or badly edited&connected..... BUT HOLY MOLY episode 6 had me holding my breath and giggling omg that was such an amazing ending scene! Aside for the kiss, which was very well executed, the whole dialogue and direction and acting of the last part was really great! I'm not ready for the next episodes!
I know, Keishi really f***ed up with that clumsy and cruel way to brush Tanaka away... but, let's not forget he's way younger and that's his first ever relationship! I can't blame him for freezing and spurting out a random sentence to put the most possible distance between him and Tojo-san.
I'm not justifying him, but I can't accuse him either. Both of them are hurt, and I loved how both actors pulled off the pain/delusion/disappointment of their respective characters.
i just LOVE the fact that Keita is starring in another queer series: aside for his BL CherryMagic, I loved him in Joshi-teki too where he really nailed his role as a supportive ally... can't wait for this project too!

I admit I thought something similar too, but not in such a creative way! XD

(the OST is amazing!)
