I saw a lot of bl edits of this series but it doesn't look like bl here :/ is it gay or not? π
Nope - the male lead and the female lead are a couple.
BUT there is an incredible bond between the two male leads that falls in that huge "soulmate thing" that makes brotherhood feel like they are more connected than the official couple. XD
I decided to watch ep11 on my lunchtime break and OH MAN it wasn't the best idea. I ate spaghetti with tears sauce.
Anyway - I see many people siding with Zi Ang (most of the comments) or with She Hu, but honestly my heart aches for both! They were simple souls in love, longing for tranquility, acceptance and happiness in a shared place to call home, where they could be themselves after a life of drama and obedience..... BUT the only sure thing in life is: "life sucks", and here we got plenty of proofs.
Could they have done things differently? They sure could have, both of them - maybe things would have become better, or maybe worse. They both love each other, and that is crystal clear - but most of the time love isn't enough and for sure it can't either win wars nor save kingdoms.
So this may be controversial but I like this series more than Revenged Love. π€ ( I'm a grownass woman, I can…
This is way better than RL - although I might be biased because I didn't really like that show (although I watched it till the end to show support to chinese BLs) XD
Anyway, this show has some of the same problems of RL (plot issues and some scene cuts) but it's way more complex and, in less than half of the screentime, it really managed to make the characters so well rounded!
I love the way you think πβ¦ living under different names, finally getting the youthful life they were denied.…
I might already be in the tunnel, it's too late for redemption.... I even bought a dizi! XD
I actually play the shamisen, so i thought I might try and learn the dizi and the guqin too... but the guqin is pretty big whereas my house is pretty small! XD So, I'll first see how it goes with the flute and then... who knows! XD
Bai Jiu's acting is so good, I forget that he's not actually Li Lun. Also, why is it calamity after calamity.…
Yes! So talented! Bai Jiu is such a complex role, ranging from childish to scared to energetic to brave to sad.... this young actor nailed all the emotions, AND he really completely switched mood when impersonating Li Lun, so convincing!
Thank you, production crew, for this special episode. <3
I was honestly happy (.......yeah I know it's not the best and the most fitting word in the world.......) with the ending of the series, because it was perfectly in line with how the story started and how the characters evolved..... BUT it was nice to spend other 20 mins with these characters, and see that Zhao Yuan Zhou was praised by the people: he didn't sacrifice only for humans to be safe, but also for the whole of the demon race to get one more chance to be understood, loved, accepted.
I'm definitely not ready to let this story and its characters go - I just finished and it was such a great adventure! It made me empathize with all characters: mains and secondary, everyone had a great background story and felt tridimensional, real, filled with emotion and energy.
I think Li Lun and Ying Lei will forever live in my fantasies, I loved them from start finish - and Zhuo too, for me he somehow embodied the strenght, resilience and depth of human heart and goodwill. Maybe they went a bit overboard at the end with all those demonic powers and wings and flashy swords (there was a scene in which, I swear, I though I was watching He-Man and Masters of the Universe! And yeah, I laughed although it was a pretty heavy moment XD) but it was right into the character's backstory and growth and destiny.
The plot got a bit tangled/lost around episodes 24/30, but it soon got back on track --- and anyway, the actors and their roles kept growing and giving, so I didn't really care if they wasted some more episodes.
The costumes were SO SO SO damn beautiful, I wish I could wear wigs like that every day in my daily life... everyone looks so dashing and mesmerizing with those hair and clothes!
And the music? The songs are spectacular, I can't say which one I loved the most! Each one gets the inner soul and dilemmas of its own character. Some of these actors have very beautiful voices too, the epic singing of Yan An in Li Lun's song gives me goosebumps!
I'm sorry I found out late about this story, but I'm so happy that I decided to give it a go... it's really a great voyage.

Eeeeeh, I'm almost finished - I'm just about to start ep33 which I think is the penultimate! It's indeed pretty tragic, but it's also very very addicting: as you said the cast is great and the characters, especially the male ones and all the secondary demons, are so well-built and faceted!
Plus, it's also very poetic and, although one hell of a tearjerker, heartwarming: the dynamics and bonds between the leads really grow on you, I'm loving this "found-family" theme. <3
I think I'll be all depressed and in withdrawal symptom when I finish FoF, just like when I finished WoH... and also KtL is almost done... (luckily the novel from MDZS just arrived so I'll probably start reading them tomorrow *_*)
I love the way you think πβ¦ living under different names, finally getting the youthful life they were denied.…
Awwwww <3 I was wondering in today's episode, if Shu He managed to recover his hands to play the zither again... i loved watching him play! The guqin is such a beautiful instrument, so soothing and deep!
And speaking about being each other's kings... maybe they could just openly marry and create a peace born out of love! *_*
I'm still hoping this is all a huge, complex and long nightmare and at the end they'll wake up and be happily married in their quiet house in the woods.
God of BLs please spare some happiness for these two, otherwise we'll keep aiding deforestation with all the tissue papers we're using!
I am confused. Why do they have Zhao Yan acting like he cant help with anything in ep 24? Like at the beginning…
I agree! From ep24 to ep30 there are several things that make very little sense and that could be resolved pretty easily by asking someone, or using some prop, or some power, or even simply by NOT making stupid choices..... making back&forth with the same issues and then finding out that there are no issues at all.
It kinda felt like they needed to make the story a bit longer... BUT it was still very addicting, I hope I can finish work early tomorrow so I can finish bingewatching the last episodes! *_*
I knew it! I knew he was gonna die, poor Ying Lei potato! He didn't deserve it! T_T
Ep30 and I have to stop for tonight, I can't keep goint - I just cried so much!
First Li Lun and now Ying Lei... both were my favourite characters and, although I knew Li Lun couldn't get a happy ending, I was really hoping for YL to reach the end of the voyage... well at least now he's with grandpa, cooking happily and watching over his friends. He was such an injection of joy and happiness, everyone needs people like him in their life... they barely and rarely get recognized for how much love they give: constant and firm vibes of love, warmth, acceptance - always there, collecting the pieces of us that life breaks, and softly mending them back together... smiling, caring, just being there.
can anyone give me a rundown of this? i wanted to watch this since forever but,ppl said the FL was annoying, the…
I'm bingewatching it rn and, to be honest, I don't find the FL annoying... she is the classic "pure hearted chosen one", but she is witty and strong-willed, although she is not physically strong so basically everyone always protects her. She's not memorable, but that's only because almost all other characters are way more tridimensional and charismatic.
Set aside her character (and the other main female), I'm on ep 30 now and it's so enthralling that I bingewatched everything in a couple of days, it's very addicting! Great characters and interactions between all of them, amazing costumes and sceneries, beautiful music and a very vast and interesting plot spanning through chinese folklore, gods, demons... I'm loving it!
Hi there, we meet again from the Untamed universe π Hope youβre enjoying the show! Today's episode had me…
Hiiii! <3 Yes, after watching TU I'm basically on a wuxia/xianxia craze :D (I'm bingewatching Fangs of Fortune right now, but I have to stop for tonight because I'm over my paper-tissues quota for today! T_T)
Ep 24 just started and I had to stop to say, once again: Ying Lei is such a sweet potato, he's the greenest flag ever as a friend and I bet as a lover too, he's basically always doing things and caring and fighting and praying for everyone's sake - he deserves so much love!
PS - I can't believe the main actor is so young, he looks so charismatic and mature in this role!
BUT there is an incredible bond between the two male leads that falls in that huge "soulmate thing" that makes brotherhood feel like they are more connected than the official couple. XD
