I finally finished I’m Sorry, I Love You (2004), and I’ll be honest — it was exhausting.

The story had potential and the leads had undeniable chemistry, but everything was wrapped in toxicity, suffering, and emotional manipulation. The female lead was constantly treated like an object, and both male leads were deeply toxic in their own ways. It’s one of those dramas where you keep waiting for something beautiful or healing to happen… and it never does.

There were a few powerful moments, but overall it felt like the drama was trying too hard to romanticize pain. The constant crying, the tragic tone, and the repetition made it heavy to watch. I didn’t cry because it was sad — I just felt drained.

If you’re looking for a romance that feels genuine or characters who grow, this one might not be for you. It’s not about love; it’s about destruction disguised as love.

That said, So Ji Sub’s performance was intense, and I understand why it’s considered a K-drama classic — but for me, it just didn’t age well.
