Oh yes it is true, the novel has veru very mild romance between the characters. Though it is under the LGBT category. It is more of a queer romance than anything else. If you didn’t focus then you might miss the little hints of romance here and there. It is that mild to the point people can mistaken it for a story between two friends. The manga showed it in a different way.
