Serious question: in Korea does people really react that way when someone really handsome/pretty/cool walks into a room? Like shamelessly staring, gasping and literally saying "wow he's so handsome"?
Why does the ML reminds me of Yoongi? The way he runs and there's a scene on episode 7 where he says to de FL "you're so cool" while smiling and it reminded me so much of Yoongi lol
Can someone tell me if the drama received any kind of backlash in south korea by the way it portrays the Gwangju Uprising? I'm not actually familiar with the political situation there despite searching a bit about the uprising, so I'm not sure if the whole country sees it like we saw in the drama or if a big part thinks the military/government was in the right.
I liked how the writers played with us exchanging the watch from hand to hand in the last episode. I knew I was gonna cry so I stopped at the 9th episode and waited for it to finished while I prepared myself. I loved everything in this drama, seriously.
While Myeong Soo annoyed me a little, I thought to myself "whoa, such a innocent and whiny kid, it's annoying", but then I kept thinking and isn't it horrible? I find a kid who was raised in a loving family, with a supportive sister and loving parents, who despite his financial situation not being so good was still happy and enjoying life as a kid should be doing to be annoying, simply because he was not tainted with the horrible things in this world. Most kids his age these days are playing on their phones, doing tiktok dances, watching things they shouldn't be watching, behaving like they shouldn't behave, trying to act older than they actually are and spoiling their childhoods so much that I actually internalized that thats the norm. Every child should be like Myeong Soo, not tainted by life like Jung Tae.
I really loved learning a little more about SK history and I wanted to know since I'm not very knowledgeable about the political situation there, did the drama receive any kind of backlash nationwide? Like, are there people - influential people who actually believes that the Gwangju Uprising wasn't a big injustice and things didn't happen like the drama portrays? If there's any south korean around here, please answer
One of my favorite characters is Jung Tae, he was such a good kid raised in such a bad environment.
Missed seeing Hee Tae's father paying for all the bad he caused though, being rejected by his family wasn't nearly enough.
My thought on the end of this eigth weeks journey:
First I'll start with my favorite thing on the episode and then I'll talk about things I wanted to be done differently. My favorite part of the episode was the mock trial competition celebration, with Kang Sol B calling Sol A noona, Sol A+B and Joon Hwi making a "pact" to compete (and win) next year, the quoting exchange and Sol A's snoring. I just love this group of friends. The Yangcrates and Sol A moments were also wholesome, he's such a positive role model for her. One thing that happens in every episode and I still can't get over it is the way Joon Hwi looks at Sol A, it just melts my heart, seriously.
I think the closing of Assemblyman Ko was very rushed, but if it wasn't like that, it would otherwise be too dragging, he got what he deserved and I wished to see his son getting punished. The entire drama was really really good and I looked forward to getting home every wednesday and thursday, I still don't believe there won't be a episode tomorrow tbh.
I liked and disliked the time skips. First because I'm a professional shipper and I still don't know if my couple Solhwi it's true, I watched the last scene hoping to see a ring on their finger or any indication that they're together and got exactly what I expected, disappointment hahahah. I liked because we can see that they're following their dreams and building up their careers, but I thought the time skips kind of says "there won't be a second season" and I sooooooo hope for a second season. There's so much they can do and explore, it doesn't even need a big case throughout the whole season. I just need Sol A facing Joon Hwi in court and them coming home together, is it too much too ask???
I kind of wished the mock trial competition wasn't so rushed also, maybe exploring it on the back for a couple of episodes and bringing it together at the end. How did Sol A resolved her financial situation if she didn't lost the prize?
Anyway, I love to watch dramas on air from beginning to finish, and since I'm "new" to the kdrama world, I didn't do it a lot, but it gives a nostalgic and good feeling to watch a final episode (unbiased with people's opinions and spoilers) after weeks of investing your time on it. I felt it with Vicenzo and a couple other dramas.
Basically: I really recommend this drama for whoevers willing to give it a chance. I loved it. PLEASE I NEED SEASON 2!!!!!
(sorry if it's confusing, English is not my native language and I didn't even revised, so things may make sense in my head but not on writing)
Last four episodes were a bit lacking for me, although it's picking up on episode 10. I understand the good intentions…
Also, regarding the love triangle, I wanna add that I don't feel like Na Ji Na has romantic feelings towards Joo Ik besides confusion and weirdness over their first encounter. But I'm someone who was Team Seo Jun in True Beauty and Team Ji Pyeong in Start-Up , so I'm used to it if it doesn't go my way. lol
Last four episodes were a bit lacking for me, although it's picking up on episode 10. I understand the good intentions but it's so dumb what DK did. How did she expect to forget everyone she loves in (less than?) 2 months? It's not possible in two years lol
I know it's cliche the heroine sacrificing herself for the sake of the world or the one she loves (which brings me back to the point, if you're willing to sacrifice yourself for your loved ones, that means you love them too much to forget them in two months)
Also, what about the deity? Does she want or not for the to be together?
Even though I'm saying all this, I still get home anxious every Monday and Tuesday, and I'm loving it. All the actors are doing a great job and I'm loving it overall. I'm not even gonna start on the second couple (I'm team Joo Ik, by the way) - yes I will
I totally hate Hyun Gyu even though there's still some unexplained things (I low-key believe the whole rice cake thing is a lie, he simply used as an excuse and made Joo Ik feel guilty all these years), but it's also hard to understand where Joo Ik's feelings come from, he only had one interaction (supposedly) with Na Ji Na and apparently thought about her through the years and has some feelings for her now.
Anyway, I recommend the show if you're someone like me who likes the experience of watching a drama with the sole purpose of enjoying it and not think about it too deeply. If you're heavily critic on what you watch and often gets disappointed, I recommend waiting for it to end and looking for some reliable reviews.
Production, photography and acting is spectacular, in my humble opinion.
For some reason a think the rice cake thing is a lie, I think Hyun Gyu used it as an excuse for missing his exams, perhaps he was afraid he wasn't gonna pass anyway, since there was so much pressure on him. And Joon Ik has been feeling guilty for it all these years for nothing. Or I just think that because I'm team Joo Ik
Time for JoonSolA crumbs!!! HahahaThe way Sol A casually leans on Joonhwi!!! And he's so okay with it! And his…
I have a weakness for couples who are comfortable around each other, that's why I shipped Vicenzo and Cha Young so hard, just like Joon Hwi and Sol A, they are so compatible and comfortable around each other I can't help but want more of it lol
