Episodes 1-8 could have been condensed into 2-4 episodes to be honest. It was a bit boring and a little bit long. After ep 8 this drama really picked up and delivered. I'm so glad and persisted and continued with the show. The leads were fantastic. They really made the show. They felt real and wholesome. I loved their chemistry and they way they just worked so well together.
Haven't finished the current one on episode 35 now but did she die? that's why a spinoff in modern times I know…
It was a happy ending. They had a wedding and all that so it wasn't like it was an open ending.
**SPOILER**
From what I can tell, in the final episode when she had been poisoned they were both struck by lightning. The modern episodes seem to follow that the lighting lengthened his life but hers was shortened and he had been waiting to meet her again (from what I understood). In the final episode she calls him Your Highness which implies to me that she remembers their past but I only skimmed through the episodes so I may have missed something.
It's not as angsty as LR. In terms of plot LR is better and just overall better executed but as far as love stories…
They leads do have pretty good chemistry together. They just seem to fit and nothing seems forced. You can tell ZZH and JJY are comfortable with each other and its comes across on the screen with how natural they seem when their together.
As for misunderstandings its not as bad as LR but its still plenty. Most things could have been resolved if they just had a chat. Especially with the villain whose whole revenge was based on a misunderstanding.
is this really worth watching? trying to get over love and redemption and i heard a lot of good things abt this…
It's not as angsty as LR. In terms of plot LR is better and just overall better executed but as far as love stories goes the ML's approach to love in this one is slightly healthier than LR.
I'm on ep 32 and all I can say is keep your expectations very very low.
Not really because although FR signs the divorce agreement twice, XJ does not.
There is a scene in the trailer where XJ asks for a divorce from the king but I'm on ep 40 and that hasn't happened yet so I'm assuming that is so he can marry her as his legal wife.
Duke of An: Puts the woman he 'loves' in danger just so he could kill his nemesis. Also Duke of An: Blames himself for putting her in danger. Again Duke of An: Let me try and kill him again and again until I succeed while also putting her in danger.
Sigh... he is already shaping up to be a stupid villain and I'm only halfway through.
Also that ending... I'm don't normally fangirl but that smile did it for me.
