I saw a theory that maybe the boss knows that Type is dating a man and so the reason he's being an asshole is that he's homophobic. Which would be interesting because we've never really seen Type have to deal with homophobia being directed at him before. But because it would be interesting, the show probably won't go there LOL

About your last point, my best guess is that the boss didn't like Type even before the thing with the girlfriend happened. So that whole thing was just another way that he was unfairly targeting Type, but it's not what caused him to start hating Type in the first place.
