Hmmm, I don't always watch pure romance but usually prefer it as an added subplot instead. The ones I did enjoy which focused mostly on romance would probably be Soundtrack #1 and maybe 25-21 and Hometown ChaChaCha 🥺

Of the recent dramas, I enjoyed Through the Darkness and Bloody Heart. You could also check out Hometown and Beyond Evil. I find their plots generally quite well written.

Like you, I'm taking my sweet (pun intended) time watching this though I'm still a long way off to completing it. It's enjoyable but personally doesn't induce me to binge it as much as other shows of the genre usually do. It's just... okay, though technically I have to agree with most of your points. It is quite well made, no doubt about it.

I think I'm still waiting to be wowed by a production similar to NiF lol 🤷‍♂️

I saw only the first couple of episodes a few years back but it looked like a cutesy romance 😉

Another fabulous article with useful insights and commentary on what to expect and tips for viewers too. I share your first impression thoughts as well, since I watched the first episode. The wuxia action disappointed me in terms of the editing and CGI but the overall intention of the storytelling and the visuals are consistent with the spirit of wuxia. Just that the effects and posing are a little over done lol

But hey, there are other aspects to it that are probably worth watching for so keeping a positive mindset on what to anticipate is a great tip 🤗
