I loved new life begins too. This one exceeded my taste so far. Some basic plot might be similar but both dramas give me different vibes. I came to love the actor, of course I wish he would choose a different genre next time such as wuxia or xianxia.

Love your analysis. I also think he is still alive because of these hints. Gu Father is my favorite parent here. It would be very emotional when Jiu Si reunites with his dad. The scene where they met for the last time, when Jiu Si came to save his dad and told him to run, was so pure. Jiu Si called him "Old Man" while Dad called him "Little Brat". 🥺 They're father and son who are willing to sacrifice one's self for each other, but never called him "Father". This hurts 😢 Jiu Si will call him "Father" this time 🙏
