I totally agree with your viewpoint. I liked Kotoko in this version too because she stood up to Irie Naoki when he was being insensitive and we can clearly see why he ends up falling in love with her too. Also Irie Naoki in this version seems human like and once Kotoko touches his heart, you can see him go through all the emotions that normal people go through when they fall in love. Unlike the other series where Irie Naoki is always a cold blooded person. I liked Naoki the best in this series. I wish the other actresses had even half the backbone that this actress had in this version.

I am a fan of the drama dating in the kitchen, so I thought I would watch the movie version. I have to say that I really liked it. Yes the movie did not have the intense intimacy scenes that the drama has but it is still very good. The movie was very funny and made me laugh out loud many times. The songs were also great. Its a really cute and funny love story. P.S. I don't know if many people will agree or understand but I felt it had a Jane Austen kind of love story vibe.
