guys, guys, guys "panic mode" did you know that Tan Jianci lived in Japan for a year? since he was 6 till 7? do…
From my very limited knowledge as someone who is not chinese, I don't think so..probably.
Since, it's not the traveling to Japan/being in Japan or even liking anime or manga (Shin Chan is pretty popular, for example) that is seen as questionable.
In light of recent events, if we are talking about a certain actor's situation, it was not because he was in Japan. I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of other celebrities in Nara for example (but I could be worng), and as far as I know, they haven't had problems with that. The issue in that particular situation, is that the place where the pictures were taken have grim cultural and historical implications to China (and other Asian countries).
So I think, as long as Tan Jianci, doesn't have culturally insensitive pictures, or something like that, he probably is safe, or at least I hope so. Still he would benefit from being extra careful.
More so, it's not like this is his first popular work (maybe this one stands out to people who like danmei, and it's not even his first bl drama, since he was a pretty popular character in winter begonia, but I think, to the general population works like the secret of three kingdoms, or the advisor's alliance are more well known), so I doubt the industry is ignorant of him living abroad when he was a kid, but who knows.

hello patient besties! what are y’all looking forward to most and least in winner is king? i’d say i’m most…
I think one of the things I'm looking forward to besides the steam punk, are the war scenes, I loved reading them, they were so exciting to me, also I would love to see Gu Yun fighting and just being the marquis of order, I mean I love his playful side, but when he is serious about his work, it's just *chef's kiss*
The things I'm worried about are mainly the cgi, and the characterization of both, Liao Ran and our Cao ChunHua.
Liao Ran, because I don't know how they will handle the being mute part, and xiao Cao, not because of acting, but because of how they will handle the character due to censorship.
Also I will be very sad if we don't get the song about the goddess.

In this particular list, I would say, my favorite is SPL, I just really enjoyed reading it, and fell in love with…
For me it was at the end of the first book, but I think its not that the story is bad, it's more like the pacing was too slow for me, which is understandable since it's a longer novel compared to the others in the list.
I don't think you will be disappointed, I genuinely think it's a good book, it's just not my kind of book. Have fun reading it when you do :)

ok so just to have fun and keep us waiting and keep the conversation flowing, let´s rate those danmei novels:…
In this particular list, I would say, my favorite is SPL, I just really enjoyed reading it, and fell in love with the characters. I love the fact that Chang Geng and Gu Yun are both the best at what they do, and complement each other so well.
In second place I think I would place Thousand autumns, since I really enjoy the way Meng Xi Shi describes their martial arts and I liked reading how each character evolved.
I think I would place 2Ha next, just because, back when I read it, I didn't think I would like it that much, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the first half of the novel, and how much I cared for Chu Wanning, even so I got kinda annoyed with some stuff in the last chapters of the novel.
Then, with MDZS, I just have a soft spot for, since I read it back when I started college, I liked a lot the dynamics between WWX and LWJ, and ended up caring for all the characters, even the antagonist I can't bring myself to hate.
As for TYK/faraway wanderers, I feel I enjoyed it more after reading Qi Ye, I also liked how ZZS and WKX 's relationship evolved... That and Iike how they tease each other. I just felt like the whole conflict with ZZS' s nails was resolved quite easily in the novel.
Then with SVSSS, I laughed a lot, SQQ/ Shen Yuan is such a charismatic protagonist, I think from all MXTX's MC's, my favorite is definitely SQQ. I wished him and LBH could have developed their relationship a bit more in the main story.
As for TGCF, even though I think it's a good book, I had some trouble finishing it, I I think I enjoyed the whole Wind Master storyline more than the main one. What I did enjoy, was the world building, it was very interesting to read.

I'm curious if Chang Geng's 14-year-old self is also played by Chen Zhe Yuan.
I've been wondering the same thing, since I think there's an actor listed as "young Chang Geng" but he looks waaaay younger than 13-14, but I also wonder how will they age Chang Geng if his 13 year old self is played by Chen Zhe Yuan

I am trying to think if there is anything controversial in the book that would justify deleting 4 hours of footage.…
I've been thinking if there are some things apart from the BL theme that could justify the censorship too, and all I can think of is maybe Bone of impurity? Because of the abuse aspect of it, and it being kind of "witchcrafty", let's hope whatever they censored doesn't affect that much the flow of the story

I totally agree, although I liked Xie'er acting cute, I didn't like the toxicity of the relationship.
The novel's scorpion is kind of a voyeur (since in a gamble if ZZS lost, him and WKX had to provide "entertainment")
The novel is very different, so I like to see the drama and the novel as different stories, but I love both, so I totally recommend reading the novel.

I actually really like the novel's scorpion king as an antagonist, because I think he is better at scheming, ruthless and a better leader for an assasins organization.
But at the same time I also really like Xie'er since I feel he has more emotional depth. I also feel Xie'er is more likeable as a character in the drama, because I find the original Scorpion King really creepy hahaha like Lovelace ghost kind of creepy.
I also prefer his death in the novel, I mean I find his death in the novel kind of ironic, since he is this powerful man, leader of a group assasins, and he died because of someone who couldn't kill a chiken, so I like that better.

In the novel they don't have that kind of dynamic, they are just working towards a similar goal, but in the end, the novel's scorpion king is just interested in what brings him more profit, (since he is a gambler), he doesn't have loyalty towards anyone, that's why he is working with both, Zhao Jing and the Ghost valley, and at the same time he expects both sides to deal with each other.
I found interesting the way the drama portrayed Xie'er, since he has few things in common with the novel's scorpion king (in my opinion), he is also way more likeable hahaha.
The way he dies is also very different in the novel, (because we don't have the deep relationship between him and Zhao Jing) which I find really interesting, since he dies by the hand of a certain disciple.

Is Ye Bai Yi's backstory more detailed in the novel? I'm curious about his past.
They get into a bit more of detail mostly in one of the extra chapters, but in my opinion is not super detailed.
It just adds a bit more of context about his feelings towards Rong ChangQing and why he considered Rong Xuan kind of like his kid.
Something I think is really important to his character is the loneliness he feels as a result of being immortal and him being fed up with it.
I personally really like this part of the novel, because it shows just how all the characters are trying to break free from one thing or another.

From what I understand, they can only be in extremely cold places and can't eat or drink anything other than cold…
As I get it they both keep each other alive, the thing about living on the mountain is just part of the liuhe method, but yeah, it would mean they both would have to keep living in cold places like that.

Omg ok so i just finished the drama, but can someone explain something to me? Did ZZS live the rest of his life…
From what I understand, they can only be in extremely cold places and can't eat or drink anything other than cold water and snow, so it's unlikely that they wander around, even so, if they one day want to quit being immortal they can just do the same as YBY and go down the mountain and start eating normal food again, which would make them age.

can anyone graciously explain ep 37 for me...How did it end in the novel? Are they both immortal now? If so how…
So the thing is that the novel and the drama end very differently.
In the novel ZZS is healed by Da Wu, and since WKX destroyed the key to the armory since the beginning, they don't have access to it, also, they don't become immortal since YBY didn't pass on the liuhe method, because from what I remember, he says he destroyed half of it after the other half was stolen by Rong Xuan.
So they are still mortal, but they do stay on the mountain while ZZS recuperates, and they are still training ZCL. The also are always flirt-ahem.. Fighting till they annoy Beiyuan and WuXi, all just to decide a certain issue, that in the end gets resolved because WKX used tears to convince our soft hearted ZZS.
In the drama, YBY tells WKX that he has a way to save ZZS, but for it to be successful he has to be willing to sacrifice himself for ZZS, But that doesn't necessarily mean that he has to die (this is speculated by what other people have noticed the original lines adult ZCL says to the new disciples)
So, both ZZS and WKX have to have complete trust on each other for the method to be successful and so that neither of them die during the exchange. Them being the soul mates that they are, are successful in this, and as we can see by the kid practicing WKX swordmanship on the mountain in episode 37, they have been together on that mountain being immortal this whole time.

In the book, Da wu heals ZZS, they do stay in the mountain while ZZS gets better, but they are not immortal nor do they open the armory since WKX destroyed the key a long time ago, and YBY didn't pass on the liuhe method.
So, both ZZS and WKX stay mortal together with ZCL, they also "fight" (flirt) until they annoy everyone else.
