I have a couple of questions. What exactly is "steampunk"? Is a trailer of this drama out? Can you give me some…
Steampunk is a genre in which there is technology (mainly steam powered machines) in periods of history in which there shouldn't be, think Jules Verne for example. There is not a trailer of this drama yet (that I know of), sadly :( As for other steampunk dramas or movies, I don't really know, since I personally am not that into steampunk (I liked the novel this drama is based on mainly because of court politics, not so much because of the steampunk thing, although I don't mind it) I think Novoland would count? Anyways, I hope other people can help you with more examples.
Can you advice me with some novels like sha po lang . I just finished reading it and i can't get over how good…
I agree with the Meng Xi Shi recommendation, also I would add maybe Golden Stage, Imperial uncle and Lord Seventh (this one is by Priest too) since those also deal with some court politics (if you liked that in SPL)
After finishing Both dramas word of Honor and Killer and Healer I can compare between them and say Killer and…
I mean both dramas have completely different stories, and are set in completely different universes? There is nothing wrong with liking one over the other, but I don't think its fair to compare them. I'm a Priest fan, and even though the drama is not perfect by any means, I liked WOH, so I'm supporting it in any way I can. If you think Killer and Healer is a better drama, go and support it, so that more people watch it, but there is no need to make comparisons, much less to talk about it in a comment section focused on another drama.
Rong changqing was the first one to achieve the immortality technique and he suffered some damages while passing…
oh, I don't really remember that very well, I'm re reading the novel since the english translation is finished now, I guess i will have to read that part again haha. Although, I don't know who else could YBY be refering to haha
But Rong changqing never died during that process. He couldn’t handle that technique well.He lost his mind or…
That's why I said I'm just guessing, because from what I remember, in the novel the one injured was Changqing (I think he qi deviated?), but I don't remember YBY having other friends either haha
So, am i supposed to believe everyone who already completed this understand chinese? Whats y'll secret?
I mean, my chinese isn't that good, but the story is simple enough that even if I couldn't get some parts of the dialogue, I could still make sense of it with what I remembered about the novel and the acting haha
TBH, i wish Xiao Chu had stuck to the novel ending instead. Anyway, thank you all for sharing. This has been d…
I also feel this way!, I mean I like this ending too, because it shows more intimacy between the characters, but I really prefer the novel's ending, because I feel YBY wouldn't recomend anyone to learn the whole six harmonies thing.
If you read the novel, the storylines is exactly the same. The focus is with ZZ then switch to WKX. Even Priest…
This!, even in the novel, most of the story happens around either, ZCL or WKX, as seen from ZZS's point of view, so I think the storylines are about the same. I mean, I would like to see more of ZZS too , maybe explaining his backstory a bit more, but overall I'm not complaining since the drama so far has been better than I expected.
Has anyone here read the novel? Is it good? Also where can I read it? (:
Personally the novel is in my top 3 danmei, but I've seen people say it gets kind of boring because of the politics and war centric chapters. That just happens to be my cup of tea so I quite like them, but different people like different things. Also: https://www.novelupdates.com/series/sha-po-lang/
I believe the cast selected was a good choice. The main actors indeed have an age gap. Tan Jian Ci is 30 years…
Just adding, to make things clearer I hope. Chang Geng's biological father is the emperor, furthermore, when he is not living in the capital and is still unaware of his ancestry him and his aunt live with his step dad, that being the mayor of the town where he is living. So Gu Yun being his Yifu is just to kind of pay a debt of gratitude (for saving his life) at first, and then because of the emperor's orders. And we still don't know when the drama will air, sadly.

Chang Geng is the emperor's lost son, when was a kid, Gu Yun (disguising himself as a sickly and poor man) and Shen Yi (Gu Yun's buddy) save him from a wolf pack. To show his gratitude, Chang Geng becomes Gu Yun's "adoptive son" ,thus he calls him Yifu (adoptive father). Later Gu Yun reveals himself as the Marquis of Order (a really famous general) and tells Chang Geng that he would take him back to the capital as ordered by the emperor. Then Chang Geng becomes a prince, and the country is at war, so basically they have to work together to bring peace to the country (and get together haha)
So I’m loving this series but is anyone not a little frustrated with WKX. I’m on episode 22 and he’s completely…
I mean I think neither the Ghost or WKX care about each other?, The ghosts if they could would just kill WKX so that they could be the next Valley master, they just work for him because WKX is stronger than them, so it makes sense that they are working with the scorpions, it is that way in the novel too. And WKX wants to take them down for revenge too, he is just using them for his schemes. As for Ah Xiang, he wants her to be safe and distance herself from the whole thing, since things with the Ghost Valley are not looking very good.
I think, YBY was fighting them because he now knows that WKX is the master of ghost valley, and asked ZZS if he…
The meridian thing, was a way to treat ZZS that the Great Shaman came with that wouldn't affect his martial arts, so after he recovers, he can still practice, and have his normal lifespan. Actually in the extras, after ZZS recovers, him and WKX are "fighting" (more like jumping around like monkeys and annoying everyone else) to resolve a" certain issue" hahaha
Binge watched episode 8-14 subbed in English and I don't regret waiting till more episodes were subbed to watch…
I think, YBY was fighting them because he now knows that WKX is the master of ghost valley, and asked ZZS if he was aware of WXX's identity (he is). As for the novel spoilers:
The scorpion and ZJ don't have that kind of relationship in the novel, ZJ is just using the scorpion's assasination services haha And about the nails, I remember that ZZS had to take some medicine to take down the nail's poison (that medicine was given by the Great Shaman), and then he had to break his meridians, (he kinda "dies" for very short time), so that those meridians can be reconnected again, this has to be done in a very cold place, this being YBY's mountain. In the novel the one who heals ZZS is the Great Shaman and not WKX, but it looks like that will change in the drama, thus the white hair.
That probably would be WKX, since in the novel when they talk about WKX's martial arts, even the great shaman…
From what I remember, they are supposed to be "good", since they had to fight to stay alive in Gui Gu, where hierarchy is decided strictly by who's stronger. As for Xi Sang Gui, I mean, I'm guessing she would take Sun Ding's place in the story? (Since she's not a character in the novel, and Qian Qiao is not her subbordinate, and Sun Ding is supposed to be dressed in red..I think?) although I'm not entirely sure about that, but, Sun Ding and Lao Meng (and I guess Xue Fang?) would be the stronger ghosts, apart from WKX, as even their martial arts are recognizable by the other sects, but even so, they can't take down WKX by themselves.
