Umm, that's exactly what I've been saying? Gays are extremely underrepresented in shows written by straight women that are supposed to depict us.

It's safe to say that all the gays feel the same, If you scroll through the comment section of the show, you'd see the gays telling their own stories because of a scene that mirrored an event in their life while pointing out the fact that we're so underrepresented in shows that are supposed to depict us, those who don't probably haven't seen the show to come to the realisation that we are.

Well the other comment you're responding too is literally suggesting it's overrated.

So you’re telling me that there are gay men who find love by forcing themselves on the ‘straight’ guy they like or that there are ‘straight’ men who quite literally get punched into the queer end of the gender spectrum, then there's also this one show where the serial playboy suddenly felt horny for his gay best friend, never mind the fact that he’s never felt anything romantic towards him. We can talk about something more staple to BL shows written by women where straight guy A claims he’s only gay for queer/straight guy B and when they just come to terms with their feelings in an instant despite being ‘straight’ their entire life, seemingly unaffected by what society had imposed on them since their childhood. No, we’re a lot more complicated than that. Being gay/bi isn’t something we have control over, we don’t just turn it on because the situation demanded it. We know what we’re feeling, whether it’s attraction towards the same sex or disgust towards the opposite, we just suppress them because we’ve been led to believe that it’s wrong. I’ve seen upwards of 30 BL shows since I started last year and yet this is the only show that has accurately displayed what I have been feeling. I liked some of them, yes, but it’s mostly because I find the actors cute, I’ve never been able to relate with them as much as I have with this one.

Fujoshi is what female viewers have been addressing themselves. But seriously, is this how people argue on this site? Fixating on one term they deem offensive then blowing it out of proportion all the while ignoring the point being made? The inaccurate depictions of gay men in typical BLs because they’re usually written by straight women and how unrelatable it can be for them if it’s not made specifically to cater for them.

Clearly you weren’t here when there were people calling it overrated and generic, or when that one dude said Karl is dancing too gayly for someone who’s supposed to be straight. This show has haters, they’re just lying in wait, looking to poke holes. And I didn’t say he forgot about him. I said he’s honouring their memories together by being himself, being braver is what Vlad taught him, after all.

Title Like in the Movies Spoiler
I know no one has brought this up yet, but I’m gonna put this out there just in case a hater use this against the show, and also for those who are wondering. Some of you may have noticed that Karl danced so joyfully right after Vlad bid him goodbye, unaffected by the possibility that may never see each other again. It’s because Vlad’s greatest gift for him was not their moments together, but the realisation that he is his own person, that should he should stand up for himself and fight for he truly wants. It may look like he’s already forgotten about him but it’s actually quite the contrary, he’s remembering him in the best way possible, by being himself.

Because it’s true? Most BL shows are written by fujoshis and going by the definition, fujoshis are FEMALE yaoi fans. I don’t know why you’d think they can be trusted to write a story that’s relatable for the gays unless they’re queer themselves or they took inspiration from a gay person they hold dearly and know personally.

Im enjoying this drama. But not as expected based frm the current rating. The acting of Ian is really good but…
Your failure to relate has more to do with your sexual orientation as this is written by a gay man yearning to tell his story for the gays, a stark contrast from the typical BL made by daydreaming fujoshis looking to appeal to their fellow shippers. This is Paolo’s first acting gig and yet he’s stellar compared to most BL actors, newbie or otherwise. As for it being overrated, I disagree, wholeheartedly, it’s nowhere near as bad as the BL shows I’ve seen below the 8.9 rating, the entire rating system would have to be re-evaluated if people want it to be more accurate.

Funny how the show’s only ‘critic’ is a fan of the worst BL show ever made this year who can’t even get his own point across coherently.

I’ve seen BLs nowhere near as good as this one rated higher than what you’re insisting it should be. If you’re whining about it being overrated then you should do it on every page in MDL and have them rebuild the site from scratch, make credentialed critics rate them one by one instead of the excited fans.
