I think of all the CN high school this series FL is a treat to watch. Her character is very very realistic she is not dumb, not intelligent and knows how not to let people walk over her. She is very very natural and doesn't throw tantrum and knows her heart and mind very well. And same goes for ML as well.

It's not about BL, its true they are low budget, but JP dramas in general BL or not feels old, as they have this distinct type of camera work, that doesn't give you the feel of HD camera work or latest filming tech and editing.

Plus JP focus more on anime than their live-action films and TV series, so I know. But if you pick a drama from 2001 and compare it to 2021, they are the same in terms of technical aspects.

Yes, not everyone can watch JP drama/content, this statement is absolutely true. They are fast, their actions may feel odd, and the pace of their relationships are different then other Asian contents.
