Totally agree ! The novel’s hella 18+ and wild, but this drama made him more human—less beast . And our girl?…
I couldn’t agree with more! I totally understand the need to tame the 18+ content, but please throw us fans a bone with some steamy and passionate 💋!!!! there better be some of that after her one year mourning period is over!!! we, the fans demand it!

Good people of the comment section, I don’t know why, but I’ve got this hidden fear about the drug scene 😭…
supposedly the book is has a lot of angst sex between the leads. I HIGHLY doubt any of that will be included in the show. I totally agree with you that I am crossing my fingers hoping there will be some passionate kissing (can Chinese actors please open their mouth when they kiss?!?!) and a little less reservation (more hair pulling please!!!). I say all this to say, that I’m willing to bet that the kisses will be chaste and pecks on the foreheads. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

So eloquently written. You’ve provided more depth than the average viewer could possibly comprehend (and so spot on). Always a joy to read your reviews.

I’m half way though the show and it’s pretty interesting… will definitely finish it in the next
few days.

but on another note, the ML… if you look at his facial expressions, is it me or he looks like an older version of William Chan?????? also, it’s a little unfathomable to me that Zhao Liying was married to him… 🤔🤔🤔

For reals... I'm on episode 36 and it's getting more and more outrageous and ridiculous! I would have let that…
Okay, I'm on episode 50 right now... I just have to get this off my chest before I can proceed... I detest the way YiLan purses her lips when she speaks... I want slap the crap out of her EVERY. TIME. I. SEE. HER. FACE! The way everyone placates to her and coddles her makes me absolutely IRATE!!! I already see where this is going... SuPing is going to relent and drop the suit. She's defiant and deserves to take accountability (as mentioned by the above user) for her actions... how the hell is she going to learn?

I also want to add that her grandmother... I've seen this actress in three cdrama shows and I can't stand any of the characters she plays. Her 'whispering' and condescending tone makes me want to gouge her eyes out. Maybe I'm too Americanized, but I would absolutely not put up with her behavior, both as a child or a mother-in-law... being gracious and magnanimous with people like her will only go so far. Her son needs to grow a pair and stand up to her, and her daughter-in-law needs to grow a backbone too and stand her ground.

I am so triggered by these two insufferable C*NTS!

I can't with all the villainy. It started out great but turned too soapy for my taste.
For reals... I'm on episode 36 and it's getting more and more outrageous and ridiculous! I would have let that b*tch jump off the cliff! I want to scream at her and shake her... does she have no pride, self-respect or an ounce of dignity? I am so ashamed for her! ugh! #icanteven

This drama is so binge worthy - I'm 28 episodes in and can't stop!!!

Talented cast (love Tamia Liu... especially in Ode to Joy) and intriguing storyline, though the term DINK is used incorrectly (DINK = Dual Income No Kid(s)... Xiao Yan is unmarried so it doesn't quite fit her...).

My takeaway so far are:
- I can't stand Chen Jiao Rui and hope she'll fall out of grace real soon - I hate women like her, dirty, conniving and playing the damsel in distress card to obtain sympathy.
- Love Tamia Liu (ever since I watched Ode to Joy) and her character, albeit she came across really cold and distant in the first few episodes. but I can related to her character in so many ways.
- It saddens me to see women resort to plotting against other women so unapologetically, and it bugs me even more that it's an accepted behavior - not saying life is fair and I welcome a good challenge, especially opponents and teammates that motivate me to bring me A+ game, but I want to be recognized and excel because of my talent and industry, not because of backstabbing and dirty childish tricks.
- I'm also waiting for the demise of Mei Li E for shaming and belittling other women - despicable!
- I like You Ya and would appreciate a friend like her - she's positive and very nurturing. There's a part of me hopes that she ends up with her 'prince charming.'
- Dr. Mo - noble and naive - I have mixed feelings about him... I can get behind his 'wanting to do the right thing (or what he thinks is the right thing to do), but I wish he could be more realistic when dealing with adults and everyday life. I appreciate him fighting for his family.

Lastly, aside from the characters, I really hope this show is an EXTREME portrayal of the work culture and how men's view on mom-to-be's (quit your job as soon as you're a mom) and how they should act, and the social stigmas of working moms and stay-at-home moms... but I have a hunch that this isn't too far off.

Can't wait to finish the series! I would highly recommend this drama!

How the makeup they use is perfect. Western makeup is to over dramatic anyways and do not match with Asian beauty…
I would agree - the clothing is nothing enviable... too frumpy and baggy; doesn't look luxurious or polished. IMO, the fashion represents middle-aged low-level office workers instead of high-power women in their 30's. Love Tamia, but her hairstyle is very [out]DATED. Yin Tao in Fighting Youth had a much better wardrobe. One thing that's enviable is all the cdrama actresses' gorgeous natural skin - so jealous!!!

I'm 35 episodes in and while I really enjoy the show overall, there are a few things that just bugs me. Let me start with the good: Ru Xue and Hui Qiao - love these two. They are unapologetic, strong, independent and driven women... I would love to have them as friends. Ru Xue and her hubby's dynamic often reminds me of my own relationship (lol). (side note: I also really like him as an actor - became a fan after Ode to Joy series.) What I also really like about the storyline is beyond the romance aspect of it, they deal with real social issues that society is facing today - very relevant and relatable.

Now on to the annoying part (I only find the characters annoying...):
1. XiXi - she's insufferable with her incessant life mission of getting married. She is so annoying to me that every time she comes on screen I want to b*tch slap her. The men that puts up her with her is spineless... ugh. 2. QiYue and Xiao Yang's tug-a-war over old man Du... hard eye roll. I want to physically kick QiYue in the face... that evil little snatch!

I'm a little sad that this show is wrapping up.

You're 100% spot on! I cringe every time he tries to make his move... I was really hoping Dilraba and Vin Zhang would end up hitting it or something. Vic Chou super old to play in a show with a cast that's almost 15 years his junior, and was it me or he seemed a bit too feminine (I had to look it up... and was surprised he's married with a kid... not that being gay is wrong or has anything to do with it... he was just not a good fit for the role... casting director needs to be fired for this one). Total waste of time and super disappointed.
