I agree, but there is a difference btw modern sensibility and modern standards. This drama may not be the most accurate true to era Han dynasty drama but it incorporates the essence of that culture, which are universal and immortal like family values, patriotism, hierarchy and female struggles. Nevertheless, this remains a different culture and a different time... And we should take this into consideration

Some comments below are harsh if not sickening... Judging a teenager in ancient times based on their adult western experiences.
