I read somewhere that she is originally a humble ordinary girl ( not high rank royalty) and she is the emperor' true love... only bcuz the emperor has to marry for an ally to gain power, the emperor has to marry the empress. but in relationship the empres and the consort are bestie. in the time before his majesty ascended the throne, the consort always go wherever the emperor has to go to war and leave their children to the empress.
the 'sister' she meant above is the empress.
the 5th princess is a spoiled child who born after the chaos and after the emperor ascended the throne
