Title The Eclipse
I agree with another comment [user: Pincolino] that this series tries to appear smarter than it is, and that the…
Interesting comment, underboard. I understand where you are coming from, although our opinions differ.

I agree with you about the scene in which the trio is having a meal. I also found the dialogue unnecessary. I think the script patched it up well with Kan's "But the only goal I have here... is to know when you guys will start eating," though. This was funny. :)

Regarding the background music, I believe that they are using this intense soundtracks to convey the moods and thoughts of the characters. Yes, the school-uniform issue and the rumored curse are technically not that big of a deal for now, but I think that the boys see the situation differently, and we are looking through their eyes.
Akk, for instance, is one of those people who are pressed about literally everything. He worries and overthinks too much, and tends to make mountains out of molehills. This is evident in the fact that he finds Ayan's every action suspicious. The dramatic music helps underscore those personality traits of his.
Ayan, on the other hand, while being generally more relaxed than Akk, has a bone to pick with the school for the way they treated his uncle. He takes the curse and everything related to it personally because, judging by his nightmare, he still has not healed from his beloved uncle's death. I feel like Ayan is a more complex character than he appears to be. He just hides his complexity well behind his non-chalant, flirty facade. Although he appears carefree around Akk, his gaze becomes so fierce when no one is looking at him – he must hate that school and its administration with passion. I think that the intense music helps convey his inner state of mind, which is different from what he lets Akk and the rest see.
This is why I believe that the music suits the show's vibe well.

I am sorry that the acting made you cringe. I hope that it gets better for you in the next episodes. I am actually having the opposite experience so far: this is one of the few BL series in which the actors immediately convinced me with their performances. The scene in which Ayan looks up the word "equality" in the dictionary and starts crying as he remembers his uncle affected and impressed me deeply. I do not remember when I last saw an actor cry so convincingly. There were no unnecessary dramatics in this scene – just several tears running down his face and his trying to collect himself. My father passed away last November. This is precisely how I cry when thoughts of him catch me off-guard, so I do not know, maybe this scene impressed me just because it hit too close to home, but I found it powerful. Kudos to Khao.

Regarding the "taking this show seriously," I would say that no one should make us feel obliged to take a show or a book, or any other work of fiction seriously if we do not feel like it. The beauty of fictional works is that each of us can choose what to see in them. It is like with humor. That someone making a joke finds it funny does not mean that you must find it funny. Must we take the school uniform issue and the curse seriously? I do not think so. I agree with you that for now the storyline has not given us any reasons to take these seriously. Must we take anything else in this series seriously? No, it depends on the person. As I said, Ayan's grieving for his uncle hits too close to home for me. I cannot help taking this part of the story seriously. I feel his pain. However, many might not find any reasons to take this series seriously, which is okay. BL dramas are made for fun, so just having fun is great too! :)

Of course, all of this is my personal opinion. I am enjoying this series greatly so far, and I hope that the next episodes will make you warm up to it. If they do not, well, to each his own. I could not finish Bad Buddy, for instance, although the reviews were overwhelmingly positive.

Stay safe!

Review 2gether
If you left this review on twitter, you are going to get attacked by their blind followers. Their only defense…
Agreed.
I am new to the BL world, and, fortunately or unfortunately, my first series was SOTUS, which is a complete masterpiece and which, by the way, is a perfect example of how the leads don't need to kiss and have sex all the time to demonstrate their true love for each other. Maybe my standards are too high after SOTUS, but poeple who praise 2gether are indeed blind. I've always thought that attractive actors don't make up for a lazy script and other flaws, and 2gether confirms this once again.

Thank you very much for the review. I was worried I am the only one who failed to appreciate this drama.
