I find it so hilarious that Be Loved in House was rated higher than this one lmao. No hate on Be Loved in House because I admittedly enjoyed it but it was several levels below this one.
Well first, there were many people angry at the time jumps in Bad Buddy. But there always are. The difference…
I guess we have different definitions of time skips. A time skip is when the story leaps forward a significant amount of time, and in YMS, it only happened twice (at least from what I've seen, I am still at ep. 10). Among your list,
- the vacation between Aii and San (which skipped over how they wound up on that trip, and when Aii finally accepted his feelings to himself) -- I believe this was explained but it wasn't clear, presumably because of bad subtitling. Aii and Saen had to do travel outside the city for a class report. And how was him accepting his feelings for Saen a time skip? They even had a whole conversation about that in the bathroom when Aii asked Saen if his feelings are sincere and when he realized he was being a total asshole to Saen. The fact that he became jealous when Saen studied with other (female) juniors instead of him gives a hint that he too actually likes Saen.
- the surgery, Dom break-up, and presumably when the team let Thorn and Fah know they knew about the relationship -- Agree with the surgery, there was really a time skip in that part. For Dome and Pah, I took it that their relationship has been rocky for a long time now and Pah just realized that Dome's feelings for her have gone and just quietly accepted that. Remember that ep where the expression on Pah's face abruptly changed when Dome subtly brushed her off after taking their selfie? That's her moment of realization. For the team realizing Thorn and Fah's relationship, Fah and Thorn were not exactly hiding their affections for each other during their practice and their teammates just picked up the pieces. Fluke even caught on earlier than the rest of the team when she directly told Fah to stop giving Thorn the ball all the time and asked him if there was something going on between the two.
- the move-in, Vee and Dom starting to talk again, and Aii planning his departure and making his decision not to leave -- for the move-in, this was shown at the end of ep 9. are people expecting something similar to that cheesy move in scene in 2gether? YMS is the last serie I'd expect to show us that level of cheesiness. Vee and Dome starting to talk again: in episode 9 Dome caught Vee at a very convenient time by that pool. Vee was under the influence and you know what happens when you are under that state. Vee started talking to him because he was not himself and after that kiss, he finally realized there was nothing to be angry at Dome for because they are attracted to each other, plain and simple. Aii has planned his departure to Japan since episode 2, even asking for advice from his professor. This "plan" was even mentioned several times from ep. 3 to ep. 9. In eps. 9-10, it was clear to see that he is hesitant to leave because that will hurt Saen and he did not want that to happen.
- and Thorn approaching Tuan, doing PT, moving out, and Fah finding out he left. (and I think i'm missing one, but I can't be sure) -- this I cannot answer because I haven't watched ep. 11 yet
People are still bitching about FahThorn and the basketball stuff huh. They got the most beautiful development among the three characters. How hard is it to understand that they are the main characters in this show lmao
The time skip is a pretty common storytelling device though. Bad Buddy did it and you guys didn't even complain. There was no problem with the narrative, eps. 1 to 8 made it clear where the drama was going, so clear that any attentive member of the audience would be able to fill in the time gaps. Not everything needs to be served to you on a silver platter you know.
Despite a few standout scenes (like the bunk bed scene a couple episodes ago), and a great performance by Suar…
I find those actors with big eyes, like Suar, tend to be more expressive. And the fact that he's playing against type here (he's an incredibly goofy guy irl) makes his performance even more impressive.
I still love this drama a lot but I would say Episode 9 was the weakest so far after the first Ep.
I feel the same way but for an entirely different reason. I love Fah and Thorn more than the other gays in this series, but Ep. 9 seemed meandering. And I absolutely hate how they pull the jealousy/third party trope when the series is just about to end (Thai BLs should really stop doing this...)
I never truly caught on the appeal of this show when it aired (just binged it weeks ago).. but now I understood why it was popular. it is the most watchable of all GMMTV's offerings since ATOTS. Enchante just couldn't cut it. Thankfully I found a nice refuge in You're My Sky.
"I didn't sign up for a basketball drama" wtf? Basketball is literally the second tag on this series, its genre…
lmao, you just made me scroll down looking for those comments. Those were truly the most pathetic takes I've read in this community for the longest time.
I think among the three, SaenAii's story is basically finished. I hope they will not stretch it out with some needless drama. So the remaining four episodes will focus on either ThornFah and (especially) Dome Vee. But I may be wrong.
ThornFah's plot is growing stronger every week. Them boys nearly made me cry when Fah came back to join Thorn in the Saint-Baylon match because, after all, they made a promise as kids to play the championships together, and damn, they did hold on to their word.
Coach Tuan's sudden 180-degree development was a shocker. Was he testing Thorn and Fah's character all along? Because that's how I read it. Now I just want Coach Big to settle things out with him.
I think they should be promoted to leads because they are BETTER. Well, to be fair, the actor playing Thorn is…
I have to disagree on that one, Eps 6 and 7 kind of turned things around for Fah and Thorn. They have become the stars of the show and people were abuzz about them yesterday when the latest episode aired... About Tae (guy playing Fah), he's stiff because he's supposed to be like that. If you want to see him from another angle, check him out on Y Destiny.
I think the six guys (Tae, Suar, Boom, Jump, Porsche, Kris) should be promoted to lead in the cast list and not just Tae and Suar. The screentime among them is perfectly balanced.
I love this show, and I loved how episode 6 sealed the deal for both Aii/San and Fah/Thorn. I have tons of good…
#2 - Vee was daydreaming while he was watching Dome run to him. He was recalling a conversation with Dome where he said that instead of saying "hup", or something like that , each time they pass the baton, they say the name of something they like. Vee snapped awake when Dome shouted "Nong Vee", as he was passing the baton to him, which surprised him to the point that he lost his balance and fell on the ground along with Dome. The bruises and cuts were obviously from the fall, and their coach was chastising them for that mishap.
If you connect the dots, by shouting "Nong Vee" while passing the baton, Dome basically admitted that he likes Vee.
I love the sexual tension you could cut with a knife. So many product placed snacks! Don't Thai kids eat anything…
I think the basketball subplot is what drives Fah and Thorn's story. And it's nice to see an underdog (Coach Big) going against the coach who has been verbally abusing him for so long, kind of like a bullied schoolboy standing up for himself.
I rated it a 10 now because 7.7 is just too low for something magical as this one. I rarely praise Thai BLs so when I see something special, it is truly is a gem (and you know Thai BLs, quantity over quality!). I'll change my rating after I finish the show (if necessary).
