Title Contrast
Actually it felt a lot like Depth of Field --- two students who don't know each other regularly meet up in a forbidden zone and become each other's source of inspiration. What I loved in Contrast though is that we were not subjected to that endless torture of two boys fighting off the feelings they have for each other. Kanata and Akira are in love. The end!

Haruhi-channnn... you are so GREAT in this and I can bet that you have great things ahead of you! He truly shines the most among the cast, it's very hard to look away! I also loved Inoue Sora here despite his short time on screen. His character may initially seem disturbing but Sora played it with so much tender loving care, I actually ended up feeling sorry for his character.

I have seen a lot of JBLs this 2026--- and we are not halfway done with the year yet! --- and Contrast wins the #1 spot for me by far.

Could have been better to be honest. it had great photography and music but still lacking so much. The writer has so many things to tell but did not have enough time, so the narrative felt all over the place. Such a shame because the MC's lines kinda had a poetic feel to them. There were interjections that felt completely random (the 9/11 announcement? What was that about?). Loved Sun Caizhen, he looks so dedicated to the role, I wish I could say better things for the supporting couple but they have been victimized by their short screentime (Huang Huaiting, I need you to get another BL role as fast as you can!).

It didn't make any waves, and I can see why. It's a very innocent story among teenagers set in an era that won't resonate among modern audiences, and people have largely moved on from this genre. 7/10

i actually watched because I was planning to visit Lijiang and wanted to see what it looks like in film but I got none of that lol

anyway i thought it was a fun for what it is, it's not perfect. I kinda wish the homewrecker and the jacked up guy had more intimate scenes though, they make a sexy pair

I feel for them. Liang Beiyi (Chen Ke's actor) was recently seen crying on their Live due to a barrage of hate…
I read Caizhen was also bullied in their last live 😔 they just moved to Beiyi as their next target

- that He Jin guy just brings the mood down each time he appears, it's quite funny

- the very obvious skincare line promotion, I can't 😭

- anyone getting bothered by the pacing? it feels like we're jumping from one scene or another, there's no smooth "transition" in between. but then again a lot of C-dramas I've seen also had this problem

this drama needs more Inspector Xie and Guangming. They literally just appeared in one ep so far and we are already in Ep. 6 😤 don't tell me we'll end up with another ghost side pair

Oh man. i'm not the type who'd scrutinize factual errors/inconsistencies in narratives like a lawyer would tear apart testimonies but the ending of AMA was so, so bad, it ruined the whole thing. episode 8 was a curse and i should not have seen it. Normally I would excuse plot holes for sci-fi/fantasy productions but this drama left SO many questions unanswered.

I still liked Jeongyu and Jihan's chemistry. Not a fan of them in A Breeze of Love (overrated tbh), but I praise this drama for letting me see a "better" side of them. 6.5/10

I liked episode 1, it shows a lot of promise. The actor playing Yu Lei has the same charming enthusiasm that I really like in BL leads. But in episode 2 there is a noticeable drop in quality -- some of the editing was met with raised eyebrows and the out-of-sync dubbing sticks out like a sore thumb. as a result, it felt rushed and uneven.... if you have watched a lot of low-budget C-dramas and short films, you'd understand what I mean...

I wasn't a fan of these two from A Breeze of Love (still don't understand the hype for it) but I'm really glad they got the opportunity to work together again and show a different side of themselves. Jeonggyu especially -- he rarely (or never) even smiled in ABOL and I realized just now he is so attractive when he does it! There's also huge improvement in Jihan's acting, I would never have guessed he can pull off comedic roles really well based on what I have seen in his previous BL.

Some of the comments I read about this show are so, so sick... Get yourselves checked for real

Who are you to dictate a complete stranger's choice of who to pursue or love

You're so correct about all.Everyone can see what the toxic-est fans are doing everywhere but no one dares to…
I see a lot of these anti-Sunwook comments on Twitter. And when I check their profile, most of the time its a BL watcher/shipper, lol. These BLs have ruined some people's minds I swear.

I don't want to jump into conclusions with Taichi and will give him some benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's just not into any of the contestants at all. I just need to hear why Hangyeol was left to dust just like that.

Wow, this season has attracted the toxic-est of fans. Running a hate train against somebody just because he's getting in the way of their dream couple? Sunwook's only fault is not rejecting Sumin when he's clearly into someone else. He's not doing anything wrong in his pursuit of Hyunjun. Really though, stop projecting your BL fantasies on these men, they're real people and not some characters in a drama. I can't imagine the harassment Sunwook and Hyunjun are gonna get when they actually end up together.

Jaeha is my favorite. He's got attractive qualities but he's just down too bad on Hyeongjun no one dared to make a move on him. Maybe his elimination would actually do him some good because staying in that house is driving him crazy.

Taichi and Hangyeol falling out was disappointing; this "breakup" between couples who are both clearly into each other is nothing new in His Man but unlike the previous seasons, I don't see a clear reason why Taichi suddenly lost interest in him. I loved how Hangyeol took it though. In many ways he reminds me of Hwi from season 3.

Rumor has it Minsung is returning in S4? He already had his ending (even if it didn't last), they should've given that opportunity to other former contestants... Yunghee and Dabit (S2) and Hwi (S3) for instance!

Revisited this again after S4 came out and checked what the contestants are up to now basesd on their IG:

(1) None of the three matches lasted (well no surprises there)
(2) God, Hwi had a MAJOR glow up after this show. He looks sooooo straight 😂
(3) Looks like Youngjoon and Meongkyun fell out again
(4) These people have unfollowed at least 2-3 of their batchmates: almost everyone unfollowed Seongmin and Jaesung, Minseon and Meongkyun also unfollowed EO, etc.
(5) Meongkyun is doing BL?

the house this season is amazing. It could accommodate up to 20 contestants if they're not very particular about personal space lol.

About the reshoot -- the production team behind this is the same one behind To Get Her, which attracted major scandal due to one contestant. As a result they heavily re-edited the footage WHILE THE SHOW WAS STILL ON AIR to make it appear that that particular contestant was never in the show at all. I guess that experience really burned them out so they just decided to reshoot His Man S4 instead of repeating the same cycle

He looks SO different in each role I watched him in. Slap on a new haircut on this guy and you instantly won't recognize him.

I agree with the Cha Eun Woo comment. Something about his hair in Depth of Field made him look a lot like Eunwoo

Loved this one so much, why the hell did I just put it off last month when it was still on air? i wasn't even busy watching anything else back then!

This is superb storytelling with a mystifying aura all over it, I haven't seen anything else quite like it. Daisuke was the PERFECT tsundere as Ogami, and Daigo showed phenomenal acting chops as Kano! Speaking of, I kinda see a lot of myself in Kano LOL so I guess that explains why I loved the narrative here. I guess the main lesson is there really is no point in dreaming of a "world of if" -- even the minutest change in yourself can turn that world into reality. That's some real deep sh*t.
