This was so low budget but it felt that they tried. Probably will be forgotten in months' time.
Dongha wasn't wishy-washy with his attraction to Juwon and I liked that. Yes, I like Juwon. Yes, I will date him. No, I will not refuse his hand. Yes, I will return his kisses. We love a queen who knows what he wants. On the other hand, You Sin as Juwon had a very magnetic presence, he has that aura that keeps you tuned in. Couldn't have asked for anyone better playing that role.
BUT I felt that aside from Juwon and Dongha, the other characters had no development at all. They did make some attempts (like that short confession scene between the other roommates in the end) but it looks too forced! Seonjae -- was he supposed to be a villain? I don't know why he was groomed like that in the beginning. There was potential, but the bad writing essentially killed anything interesting in that character. Loved Taehyung in Match Play and was so excited to find out he will finally be in a full length BL, but his character here was flat af.
Kinda struggling to push thru with this tbh. mostly because Hiroshi is too damn unreadable. There are also a lot of moments where things don't seem to connect.
Aroha needs to be Japan's BL poster boy. That face was meant for kissing men. Can't believe he played lead for only one BL drama so far (not to mention the drama was quite a bore) ðŸ˜
i am so glad he's getting the spotlight nowadays. became a fan of him in 2019 because of Dark Blue Kiss (who can resist that voice? by that time he's the only GMMTV guy who is ALLOWED to pick up the guitar and sing), and back then he also had like less than 200k instagram followers and a quite small fanbase and a lot of his GMMTV peers aren't even following him. at one time i thought he was cursed to become GMMTV's newest "soundtrack guy" (that one guy who just sings and does MVs without actually getting a lead role of his own, like that guy in My School President). thank god management did not give up on him and even experimented a bit which guy would work best with him, and I think they eventually found Joss as his fixed pair.
Still I believe PoddGawin was the hottest pair ever conjured by GMMTV and I shall die on that hill.
I am really near to dropping this... it's giving nothing!! lol it's like a school group project and only one guy is taking it seriously (the guy playing Woohyeon)
honestly it could have been good. but terrible writing rears its ugly head in the later episodes. you could just tell they're running out of money and decided to wrap it up quick. The actor playing Gangjae carried it with his impeccable comedic timing. He reminded me of Abe Aran in I Became the Main Role in a BL Drama. Sadly the secondary characters were not utilized that well. JaeJun and Jihan have their own fandom, I wonder why they didn't give them more substantial roles... even in some episodes these two go completely MIA.
All in all it's a good waste of time I guess, but likely will not be remembered in the annals of BL dramas
I've avoided Thai BLs for a long time, I find them very long yet nothing of value is actually happening, yet I decided to check this out since I was intrigued by the clips I'm seeing on Twitter. Gelboys carries itself with a unique style, it's truly a visual spectacle from the production design to the costumes, editing, and cinematography. Great performances all around, with New and Leon standing out. Though I have to admit sometimes I get a bit frustrated by how the story is moving, these boys just hurt, forgive, only to hurt each other again, and you really can't tell what they actually want from each other (except for Bua, which I think was the most levelheaded character among the four). Still it was a very unique experience. At present I'm not 100% onboard with the idea of a Season 2 because I can't imagine how they would continue it. I guess it's going to be another drama rollercoaster and I don't think I have the stomach to go through that ride again lol
What's the name of the studio that made this, anyone know? I am pretty sure they're also behind the other Taiwanese bangers Be Loved in House (2021), Plus and Minus (2022), and Kiseki: Dear to Me (2023).
idk why but it's giving Happy Ending Romance + When It Rains, It Pours + Jazz for Two. It's like they took all of the characters from these BLs and put them in the same show together lol
I'm a sucker for some good eye acting, and Hiroki Matsumoto (Fujisawa) was on another level! From eps 1 to 6 his eyes sparked with kindness, then turned cold, then turned sinister. I didn't find his performance in Sahara-sensei and Toki-kun remotely interesting so I was taken aback by his exceptional work in this drama.

Now that you mentioned "off", CJH kinda resembles Gun Atp sometimes lol. But that's just me.
