i have nowhere to go to rant about CX - so here i am. rant in spoiler below :)
I initially discovered this drama thanks to Zhang Wan Yi and his fineness - and he didn't disappoint. His chiseled jaw throughout the entire drama as well as amazing voice and acting kept me hooked.
However, his character Cangxuan really disappointed me.
I had expected CX to be intelligent and always one step ahead as you needed that to stay king and keep the throne. From ep 1-39, i kept expecting him to outsmart the villains or at least predict their sneaky moves.
But nada. Nothing he achieved thus far was based on his own abilities. From the idea of moving to Zhongyuan (TSJ's idea), saving his sister (which XL did), cooking the books when being checked (thanks TSJ), to escaping his uncle's deadly ambush while visiting his grandpa (XY's idea saved them), he relied on others for their help.
Ultimately even to the end, the throne was just handed to him by his grandpa... whhhhhhatttttt... i feel like the writer could've done a better job to flesh out his character as intelligent, if that is what he's meant to be... and he should've been that if he is to protect his sister forever no????
anyway rant over, i ended up falling badly for Xiangliu / Fang Feng Bei haha
