thank you for expressing what I have been thinking. I had to stop watching as the ML is, to me, a classic abusive person. To me, the SFL and sister are vile. I wanted to watch this for ML but just can't anymore.

Up to the time he went into the military school, he had been terrible to the FL so not sure why he would assume she would love him. He hasn't tried to court her in any way.
