I really don't think Do San's flaws are as drastic as those you listed-- and even if they were and I still liked him as a character that's, as the meme goes, "MY OPINION." I just wanted to share another perspective on what you presented... I just meant it as a lighthearted comment, not as a reflection of how we as a generation, or as a fanbase think in real life. We're hoping for that redemption arc-- which both of them need at this point. :)
Are people really hating on the characters because they’re in different ships? It’s a shame because I find…
Yeeeessss!!! I'm with you all the way! :D I feel like people are hating characters because they don't support or aren't their ship. I also appreciate that they're all imperfect. They all have their flaws and strengths. And it's the complexity of the story that pulls me in. There aren't good and bad characters. There are humans. And that, my friends, is good writing.

I totally get some people.
They want to be with a guy like NDS who: 1. Believes in you whole heartedly, trusting in your abilities and standing with you (despite setbacks from others or what's expected. 2. Is there for you when you need someone to cry with, to talk to 3. Is unique, silly even, doesn't fit the mold; never looking down on you 4. Cares about your family, going as far as creating something beautiful to help them, or planning a whole trip to bring them joy 5. Is a freaking genius (smarts are hot) 6. IS SO CUTE. The mans is tall and handsome (ty Nam Joo-hyuk) <3 7. Isn't perfect and knows it, and it is willing and wanting to grow and learn. 8. Is passionate about something. Has a future that he's going after. Dreams. (Unlike other characters who may have attained those already). 9. Loves you. Like. A lot. So much.
Like, this is seriously the ideal guy for many of us. Because we're not looking for robots, but humans. I can make a list of flaws for every character on this show and deem them undatable. I can even make one for myself. The mans isn't doing anything crazy. He's not unstable. He's just vulnerable, hurt.... like most of us. Maybe he needs therapy? Or maybe he just needs to know he's not worthless, to be loved, to be believed in-- much like what he's been learning with the DM relationship.
This is what the future of NDS and SDM looks like...
SDM: Honey what is all of this? NDS: It was our ten year anniversary so I wanted to crotchet a whole outfit for you... I know the shoes are a bit much but maybe you can wear it indoors? You don't have to either, if you don't like it. It's okay. <3
Yeah he was 'used' but also offered money. It was more like a 'business deal'. Do san made it personal. By saying…
Um. What? lol. He didn't care about the money. The man didn't go because he thought DM would like him and he could date her. He was an insecure guy who went bc he realized how much that moment meant for this girl he didn't even know. He acted in compassion for her-- not out of his own self-interest. He stayed bc WHO THE HECK WOULDN'T? lol. It's SUZY. But also, bc they connected. It was a mutual exchange. And he continued to lie to protect her-- there were multiple occasions where he was going to tell her, but didn't bc of either JP or grandma, seeing how much it would hurt DM. That being said... I think you're not really seeing the whole picture, or rather seeing DS at all. His feelings aren't worthless. Just like JP's aren't. The story's a mess-- but that's life. We all don't act in the most logical ways sometimes, bc we love, we hate, we want. So. I hope you can give the mans a break. *I like your passion though, and defensiveness-- I see you're also immersed in the start up world :) its a good show, so same lol
JP was the one who had him involved but NDS was the one who expanded the train of lies. If only he hadn't fell…
You're forgetting the number of times NDS wanted to tell her though and JP told him not to... JP insisted he take the car, that he move his whole office to his apartment, that he not tell her at sandbox (like a bunch of times, literally following him to DM's house to stop him). I'm not saying NDS is blameless... BUT I'm saying JP (and grandma) also ain't. The story's complex. There's more than one side, good or bad. And it's one of the reasons I love this drama so much lol.
I have returned to rant about grandma. After reading some comments I come in her defense. Please hear me out lol. This woman is amazing. She is compassionate, kind, and forgiving. BUT GUESS WHAT GUYS? SHES ALSO HUMAN! Which means she's not perfect, that she gets hurt and she's going to act in her self-interest or in the interest of those she loves sometimes. Think about how much she's lost already. Her husband (prob), one of her granddaughters, her son, and now, soon her eyesight-- she doesn't want to add DM to the list. If the truth came out, there's the fear of the disconnect btw them as well, since she was heavily involved in crafting the lies to protect DM, to bring her a little joy in a rough time in her life. She cares about JP too. I know a lot of y'all are upset thinking she knew about the fact that he liked DM, but tbh I don't think grandma is concerned about our ships as much as we are. To her it isn't DM and JP vs. DM and DS. She's not trying to guilt JP into acting a certain way. She's trying to show him that he's not just a hurt lonely orphan. That she sees good in him. That she cares about him too even if he doesn't do or think the way she would like (the umbrella scene, the shoe scene)-- even then, he's a "good boy." He feels guilt on his own. The man needs a therapist. He needs to learn to accept love and realize it isn't transactional-- that's what has got him into this whole lying escapade in the first place. Love him. Hope he grows past this and learns to love and be loved as well. <3
I love NDS. This episode only made me love him more. Everyone is so quick to point fingers at both him and the grandma but they forget JP was the one who even got the mans involved. NDS lived his whole life in guilt and insecurities and his relationship with DM has helped him grow so much. I can't wait to see how much more he'll develop once the lies out of the story, realizing he can be loved for who he is and not who people think he is-- be it a mathlete champion, or the kid who wrote the letters. I like JP, I do. I was worried bc in the beginning I shipped him with DM way more. But now, I don't really want to see him with her. He's not the same person who wrote to her 15 years before. She's not the same either. They were there for each other then, and it was special, but they're both in different places in life. The beauty with the DM and NDS relationship is that they can build their businesses, their lives, together. With DM and JP there's an imbalance, where JP has already gone through that process to get to where he's at-- and yes he's still missing the family and love part, but I think he's going to learn that he doesn't need DM or grandma for that, but there's walls he's gotta put down so he can let the ppl around him, who care about him in (even if its his coworkers-- like that one funny guy lol). Anyways. That was my rant for this episode. Excited to see how the story will continue.
*Also, this is a side note, but do y'all think the revenge guy is connected to the NDS math competition storyline...
Ouch the Do San Hate. Haven't felt so defensive of a character since Yoo Ryung. Also I miss Ji Seok. Hands down…
Yes! With you all the way. These ppl need to chill. Tbh I was also upset with Do San, but both him and JiPyung are in the wrong. And this whole time he's acted out of compassion. We stan a selfless king.
Everyone’s been saying this already but the bromance is beautiful. They had me laughing so hard at the party! Also, I can already feel second lead syndrome hitting me; it’s gonna be bad. Can’t wait for more ?✨
