You realize tags are added by users right? It's not the be all and end all of a drama. Having aspects of romance does not mean the entire drama has to revolve around romance in order to develop its characters.

Also I can't believe I just found out that the bodyguard HRZ is Fashi from Untouchable Lovers. OMG he looks like a completely different person!

Most people watching have been brainwashed by cdrama tropes where the FL must bend and swoon at everything the ML does without question. The possessive and obsessive nature of these MLs are often excused because they're handsome or whatever. When the FL does not fit the wilting flower stereotype these viewers get angry because they are denied the romance that they want to vicariously experience.

Hua Qian doesn't need any of the MLs for this story to be complete. The entire point of her story is to search for redemption and undo all the evil deeds she committed. It's not selfish to want to be left alone and live peacefully. So what if the ML doesn't have enough screentime? It's not his story.

Well said. Not everything has to have romance in it to be satisfactory. Just watching the FL's journey and seeing her character development is enough. I'm glad HQ doesn't let love get in the way of what she wants. So many dramas have FLs turn into different characters because of love and it's so annoying.

The difference is that she isn't doing it to control someone or force someone to love her. She's doing it to try to undo all of her evil deeds from the past.

So you really think she should just be ok with him spying on her and doing things of his own accord without any regard for her feelings or situation? It doesn't matter if he's TRYING to help her. Doing it through manipulation, spying and now blackmail is not romantic or right. Nobody in their right mind would accept this without wondering if the other person isn't a possessive creep.

No it's very good. It's very FL centric and the story follows her redemption arc.

Watch Scent of Time and you might change your mind.

Still trying to find a purpose for Long Neck Lady and her sad little side story. Everytime I see her it's just soooo distracting.

That's a shame because she definitely can act circles around any of the more popular cdrama actresses out there right now. She's so good at switching it up between drama and comedy. Hopefully BFTB and this drama can get her more exposure for some of the higher budget dramas. I would love to see her in something epic like TTOTM.

Agree with everything you said. I've never seen a FL that is this wonderful and satisfying to watch. Li Qin's acting just brings her to LIFE! I'm rewatching it for a second time because I still can't find another drama with a FL like her. I gave up on Legend of Fei because it was so boring and draggy.

I always love the roles she picks. She's my standard for female leads who aren't useless and whiny.

Ugh was interested in this until I saw the cast.
