I hear you. That scene DEFINITELY had me pondering dropping it because I could not empathize with her brattiness…
Thank you for hearing me. It is a relief and a comfort to know that someone else "gets you".
Thank you too for your suggestion that I continue... You have given me an insight into what is to come regarding Rose's growth and so, if time permits... I may take your advice and give Rose another chance to bloom :o) Thank you for your kind and thoughtful response to my review.
Similar sentiments for me... I reached ep 10 and then, ... I couldn't continue anymore after much deliberation. I do find LYF lovely but... this drama did not work out for me.
Shen Siyi's siblings, particularly her brother Shi Xiao Tian, are portrayed with complex, often negative traits.…
Mm, but I honestly have no idea what you're talking about as I have long forgotten what this drama is. I re-read my review and I cannot recall the plot. The review was written more than 1.5 years ago as of today. Sure thing, with reference to your comment.
Ty for your kind words. If you are not watching it already, I encourage you to check out The Double.
Thanks for the kind recommendation! I did a quick search. "The Double" just aired on 02 June 2024. I shall eagerly wait for your review after you have completed the drama! :)
Very spot on in your analogies - so apt and so cute!!
I loved reading your take on this drama! And, I fully agree with what you have written about Xie Wei. My god, he's the new leading drama man of my heart! :)
I SUPER LOVE ZLH in this dark and yet, sensual role. So crazy and yet, so smart. So powerful and yet, so vulnerable. So bloody and yet so, tender. Seriously so tall and handsome and manly in his garb of flowing robes and all. When he's all bright and sunny and smiley and lovey, it's WOW. And when he's all dark and brutal and crazy and jealous and blood-thirsty, it's again WOW! Watching him on the screen makes my heart and the screen combust!
The kiss scenes and Mr McSTEAMY's jealousy are awesome and mind-blowingly lovely to watch!
I LOVE ZLH as Xie Wei. He's now in my list of "drama character favourites"!
I LOVE THESE PARAGRAPHS >>> ✔️The sexiest anti-hero of the year award goes to Xie Wei
He chokes. He kills. He plots but most of all, he knows how to kiss his lady love until she sees stars. Xie Wei is an absolute menace. As vicious and ruthless in his planning as he is petty when it comes to love. He is not afraid to get his hands bloody and use everyone and their mamas if it serves his purpose. Forty steps ahead of his enemies and always one with the backup plan, he is the ultimate edge lord. However, all his plans and strategies come to a stop when it comes to one woman: His Ning-er.
Zhang Ling He did a great job giving life to a character that is both terrifying and vulnerable. A man on a path of vengeance even as a part of him remains frozen with his robbed childhood. He is a person of many flavors as he goes from being the most intelligent and devilish man in the room, to a petulant, almost childish boy in love. He is both dangerous and endearing, villainous and heroic, charismatic and insecure, damaged and wholesome and the ultimate bad guy you can’t help but root for.
AND THESE TOO >>> ✔️Steamiest C-drama romance to end all romances
I think this is one of the most rewarding love stories I have seen lately. The two are equally matched in every way and understand each other in a way that nobody can. Xie Wei’s absolute mad, crazy, obsessive love for Ning-er is exhilarating to watch. He is unapologetic, fearless and unhinged when it comes to his need for her. She is the person who shares the darkness in his soul and the only woman who can keep up with his brilliant mind.
For her, he is the man who supports her through thick and thin, the only one who doesn’t handle her with kid gloves, the one person she can break down in front of, be herself with and the man who revels in her wildness as much as she does. Their chemistry is unmatched and their love is believable. There’s no question from the first episode that the two are destined for each other and the angst, obstacles and sexual tension just explodes into the most satisfying, passionate romance on-screen that is complimented with some truly sensual kisses.
--->>> And I absolutely concur with you! Thanks for your well-written review! It was a joy to read!
:) Xie Wei was totally "da-bomb". I have been watching their kiss scenes on repeat mode. Very Sexy Indeed!
This paragraph is spot on and supremely well-written! :) >>> As for Xie Wei, I have a weakness for unapologetic, unspeakably damaged, vengeful and morally ambiguous characters like this. Zhang Linghe delivers an intense portrayal of this dark and complex role. Although he overdoes some of the snarls and sneers, his performance overall deserves praise and is his strongest to date. Every time the full fury of Xie Wei's fiery death glare flashes across the screen, I go weak at the knees and my brain turns to mush. Yups, I am definitely a "may the baddest man win" kind of girl. Xie Wei is far from the best man but they are well matched, morally flexible ends justify means kind of people. Their romance arc only takes off later on but it is worth the wait. A mutual understanding develops gradually between them before things get really hot and steamy. When it does, their audacious chemistry explodes in a way that sets a new bar for passionate kiss scenes going forward.
Thanks for this excellent description of Xie Wei. I LOVED READING IT (and the rest of the review) AND I CONCUR WITH YOU! Me too for this part: "Every time the full fury of Xie Wei's fiery death glare flashes across the screen, I go weak at the knees and my brain turns to mush."
I, too, love his snarls, sneers and growls. When he calls out "NING-ER", I wish he were calling me instead! The intensity! The emotion! The feels! SO GOOD! "NING-ER!!!" I LOVE IT!

From all the 9&10/10 reviews, I'm beginning to realize there must be a large market for this kind of brainless…
I had high expectations of this show after reading the super good reviews on it and seeing the super high ratings. What a let-down! I have seen better of Leo Wu in Love like Galaxy and Chang Ge Xing. I shall be writing my own review/ my take on this drama. Hopefully, I don't get bashed online by ardent (crazy) fans.
Thank you for your review. It's sad that we have to apologize to everyone when we write reviews just to avoid…
@michelleoc Thank you for your kind understanding and pleasant response. :)
TBH, I was hesitant and my heart was pounding when I saw the email notification that I had a response to my (bad) review. There have been occasions whereby die-hard fans (perhaps) have lambasted me for leaving a poor review and I cannot understand why. I have nothing against the people/ characters in the show. I do not know those actors and actresses personally. I just want to have my say and my review states that I do not fancy the drama and I give my reasons to justify. It is my POV that I wish to share frankly with others. IMO, all reviews - both bad and good - allow me to know what I may be getting myself into and thus, I appreciate all reviewers who put in their time and effort into sharing their honest opinions with others. Of course, I know that it is still a case of "different strokes for different folks". It is all right to like or dislike different dramas.
Thank you for your kind response and for seeing the value of my honest review. I wish you a happy day too! :)
@ChineseDramaFan Your beautifully written detailed review has motivated me to watch this drama. :) I have just completed episodes 1 to 3 and I am looking forward to seeing more hotness that comes in the form of Jing Bo Ran as Lu Chen.
I love your conclusion: "This is a great drama for viewers who prefer a slow pace story with nothing much happening, for romance buffs who love a mature and quiet romance, or for anyone who just wants to look at Jing Boran."
And, you got me at "for anyone who just wants to look at Jing Boran". Looks like we are on the same page? *winks* I'm definitely the someone who just wants to look at Jing Bo Ran. Wow - he's a fine specimen of MAN.
This is my honest review of this drama. I am a big fan of Jin Dong! <3
I have nothing against all the actors and actresses and of course, I do not know them on a personal level. I am basing my remarks on this particular drama. Do watch it and let me know what you think! Perhaps, we are on the same page... Perhaps, we are on opposite pages!
If you have finished watching this drama, did you like it?
Hi there! I've only completed till episode 3 so far and I'm liking it because many things are happening plot-wise. I like plots in which there are things happening and that there's suspense. "Healing" dramas that are slow-paced and where nothing much happens are not my cup of tea. I'm all for female empowerment and seeing the ladies being awfully mistreated and exploited by different men makes my blood boil. Based on what I have read prior to the drama, I am mighty glad to know that the ladies in this drama are feisty people who are resourceful, shrewd and loyal. I cannot wait to see how the drama unfolds! :) Thank you for your very positive review which encouraged me to watch this. I personally liked "SEARCH: WWW" - https://kisskh.at/32007-www, which featured 3 very sassy women. I loved this drama. Have you watched it? :)
Thank you too for your suggestion that I continue... You have given me an insight into what is to come regarding Rose's growth and so, if time permits... I may take your advice and give Rose another chance to bloom :o) Thank you for your kind and thoughtful response to my review.

While other actors/ actresses may be suitable, I think the casting here is great and appropriate! Also, they did a very fine job indeed! :)
