Only Stayed for the Main Couple
I was looking for a hidden identity series and this one got recommended to me, so I decided to give Wrong Carriage, Right Groom a try. If you’re in the mood for something light, with fast relationship development and zero overthinking, I definitely recommend it.
The beginning was somewhat interesting, but the story becomes quite predictable from the middle onwards, which made some parts drag a bit. The conflicts aren’t complex at all. The villain Ke Shizhao is obviously the bad guy from the start, and every scheme of his gets foiled by the leads in a comedic way, which makes him feel pretty powerless. Honestly, I was only interested in the main couple — Li Yuhu and Qi Tianlei. The second couples were boring and uninteresting. The doctor couple was annoying, the villain + maid pairing felt unnecessary, and they even added a third couple involving the princess… which I completely skipped. The main couple’s story is fun and easy to watch. Ao Ruipeng handles the comedy well (though I’m not a big fan of his costumes). Tian Xiwei is adorable in every role she plays. Their chemistry is great — cute and funny. The FL maid Xiao Xi played by Li Yu is also good; she’s cute and her interactions with the female lead are entertaining. Yan Sheng played by Zhang Ruoxi is cute as well.
Overall, if you enjoy light historical romantic comedies that don’t require much brainpower, this is worth watching. But if you’re looking for a complex plot or slow-burn romance, you’ll probably find it pretty ordinary and boring.
