heavy on your point 6! and school nurse files was everything to me... i want more...
Me too. I love people who love School Nurse Files. We are the same community hahaha Nam Joo Hyuk's character was one of my favorite male leads. We need more shows like that.
How can a person constantly be strong though? I thought Ji Ah till the end was a very smart character that did…
I don't we empower women by making them constantly strong. No one is like that. It's all a pendulum. How she still stayed true to herself till the end was great! I'm just happy they didn't play with any stereotypes. She's not average by any means.
Let's just say I tolerated this drama for Nam Joo Hyuk.
I thought Do San was cute. Han Ji Pyeong was just condescending and a character I could never empathize to. Dal Mi started strong but got annoying.
I didn't care about the lead pairings because they literally brought nothing to the table, they would've made amazing friends though. Their struggle together would've brought so much to the story but of course "love triangle" is a better plot device to stir the ratings and it worked.
My Points: 1. Could've done realistic to an extent. No one expects a completely realistic drama because our real life sucks anyway but we can have some elements done well just to bring an intriguing story.
2. Ji Pyeong could've been character who never fell for Dal Mi but had a transformational journey on the basis of the childhood he had and how he shifted to a rich character who is also tragically lonely. There could've been a journey shown with that.
3. Do San is a flawed endearing character who also could've fallen in love slowly. Nam Joo Hyuk in weightlifting fairy started dating Bok Joo wayyy later and we were still obsessed.
4. I loved the trio, more of that with sarcastic, cocky Ji Pyeong and his remarks would've made it much more fun to watch.
5. The sisters didn't need to be reunited, it doesn't ALWAYS need to work perfectly. "The Untamed" this amazingly (no spoilers, just saying to those who have watched).
5. More of Start up. Korea is a giant in technology and innovation - I'm sure the start up world in intriguing there.
6. The whole second male lead debate. With a well written story, no one is "second lead". Second leads don't need to "get the girl" to cement the power of their character. A stronger plot does that on it's own.
I'm a Nam Joo Hyuk fan and I deigned through this drama just to look at him and that's all I did. I liked all the friendship stories and the trio though. There were cute moments with everyone I admit but not enough. I loved School Nurse Files and his character more there - one of my favorite male leads ever actually.
Less "love triangle" more independent storylines of growth. It's Okay to Not Be Okay should've made it clear to Kdrama writers how strong three characters can carry the show and have independent and interdependent plot devices that show character growth.
I hope this drama does not beat IOTNBO in Netflix because it does not deserve to.
I'm going to go back to watching Weightlifting Fairy because that's the world Kdrama promised me.
Also, watch "The Untamed" if anyone is looking for a recommendation. <3
What the show did well: 1. Supernatural elements in the earlier parts of the show that made it super interesting. 2. Ji Ah was a strong character throughout AND THE MAIN COUPLE COMMUNICATED. 3.Lee Rang was an intriguing character that deserved the ending he got. He killed people and therefore, the whole sacrifice and reincarnation thing fit him perfectly. It was rebirth for him. Sacrificing himself was the most selfless thing he had done ever? 4. Shin Joo was the cutest and I love the pairing. 5. The bromance <3 6. Despite the lack of a little sparkle in the character, I thought Ji Ah stayed true to herself to the end. We need couples that support each other. No one is constantly strong and one does not become a "Damsel in Distress" by getting help. She's smart, she helped and planned with Yeon and did whatever her scope was. Loved her. 7. The show didn't play with gender stereotypes. 8. When Yeon said he would've loved the reincarnation of his past lover even if it were a man. Yas.
Wtf happened to the FL? In the first few episodes she was a cool, intelligent, strong and fearless woman perfectly…
How can a person constantly be strong though? I thought Ji Ah till the end was a very smart character that did whatever she could to help in all her "humanness" amongst everything that was happening around her. She communicated, she thought, she fought and she never lost herself to all the chaos.
The New York Times named It's Okay to Not Be Okay one of "The Best International Shows of 2020." Link - https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/01/arts/television/best-tv-shows.htmlCongratulations!…
And the most successful international Kdrama of 2020 unless Startup will beat it
the way dosan sit walk talk and even can't talk in proper way ......I dont like this character at all
HJP for sure has a strong character no doubt. lol but there's no problem with crying! I think people should cry more. For Do San he has a lot of figuring out to do - like most of us - to reach a more mature stage in life.
