I think the monster eventually wants to have Hwa Sun's body as a host because she is a perfect fit. Yes, I also found it weird why he said they are even if he is the monster who saved her twice. If there is not another twist, Jamie was the one who made people kill each other(or themselves) in the White Night Village
From their meeting, what I understood is that Jung Woo might not be the one who killed those people but actually took the blame to protect Jamie and wants her to think that the case is closed so she can leave for the US. It might be Jamie who induced those people to kill themselves through lucid dreams without even realizing it herself. Also I find Jamie and Moon Jae Woong's interactions very cute.

At the end of ep 8 there was a car accident and in the preview of the next episode Hyun Chae was dead, but still we should wait and see. Regarding the messages, in the last episode one of the detectives told Do Gyun about the messages and Do Gyun wanted to see them. The detective sent them by email.
Since Do Gyun also starts to realize the communication between the past and future as he saw the mesages and also because Hyun Chae is going to die, I guess now he will also get on board trying to change the future and prevent her death.
