You said it all! It would have been so much more interesting to show how some women are actually very complexed…
Yes, exactly. I haven't read the webtoon, but I've read comments by people who have been reading it, and one of my friends is currently reading it, and they all have said that the reason they like it is because the female lead in the webtoon is relatable and is a real girl/woman who has problems that real girls/women can relate to/identify with. However, with this actress being cast to play the female lead, the drama adaptation isn't going to be very relatable, and I feel like the drama isn't going to be as good because of it.

Watching the female lead act in the teaser trailer just gives me the impression of a pretty girl parodying what an "average" girl/woman looks like and acts like and how they feel. I almost find it a little bit insulting how little effort the makeup artist and stylist put into trying to make the lead actress look "average"/"unattractive," and I feel like lead actress trying to pretend to be an "average"/"unattractive" girl just isn't going to go over well with viewers. Because she's not relatable or realistic or convincing at all. Like you said, the whole situation just comes across as being ridiculous.

This could've been a drama that a lot of girls/women could've related to, and it could've been meaningful in a lot of ways. But, because they cast a model-pretty girl to play the lead and didn't even try to make her look convincingly "average"/"unattractive," it's just going to come across as problematic and, frankly, insulting/offensive to many viewers, I think, myself included.

A little surprised they didn't choose someone with a more 'average' beauty for the female lead, she's so pretty…
My thoughts exactly. -_-

After seeing the teaser, all of my fears about the female lead not being able to convincingly play an "average"/"unattractive" girl have been confirmed. They literally just put glasses and some red blush on her face and that's it. That's not enough to make her look "average"/"unattractive." Even if some people claim she's a good actress, her face is pretty much unchanged from how it normally is (which is, pretty), because apparently Kdramas are never going to have an actress actually look "average"/"unattractive" even when she's playing a character who's supposed to be "average"/"unattractive." They're always going to cast a super pretty girl, even for roles like this, and they never do much to change her appearance because they want her to still look pretty even when she's supposed to look "ugly"/"average." I feel like this drama adaptation is going to be really problematic in a lot of ways because of this.

It's super problematic that they're trying to make viewers believe that a girl who is obviously super pretty is "average"/"ugly" because, what are girls/women who are less attractive than her in real life gonna think/how are they going to feel about themselves watching her? This role should've been given to an actress who can actually accurately portray an "average"/real girl/woman, and not have been given to a model-pretty girl. That's all I'm gonna say.

P.S. I'm just stating my personal opinion. Other people can feel free to disagree with me, but I'm not here to argue.
