I remember the time when this drama was still ongoing, it was heavily criticized. The change from fan favourite Utsumi to Kishitani is one thing, but the outrage mainly due to the shift from supernatural/extra ordinary phenomenon into a "locked room mystery" or an attempt to deny the suspect / perpetrator's alibi. For somewhat reason they did show the killing scene mid-episode, making it predictable and unwatchable.

The first season is well received due to is "complexity" when it comes to Yukawa's problem solving. We rarely see this on S2.

My early guess is that Rintoku is some kind of a secret government project or where some important people launder their money. The early sign is that Koreeda, Tamotsu, and Nurse-san are coming from rich family, and 2 of them are hired due to their families' huge donation. As for Mikami's motive, I guess someone from Rintoku or MEXT is responsible for His friend's death.

Well at least we knew that the first half is going to be unpack the mystery bit by bit and hopefully they went full "kamikaze" in the second half of the series.

the reason of Sawada's absence is because he had a bad breakup with Yankumi's actress near the end of the first series. This also ruin the initial roadmap of faithfully adapting the manga, into making a remake.

Also it's a shame that Rina's arc with the Yakuza just ended like that, Kotetsu being the mole and just killed like that is kinda meh.

Mainly due to his actor is 66 y.o ,when he is around 53-54 in the cannon. That's 13 years difference with Izumi's actress and around 20+ years difference in cannon. His look is too old to be on his early-mid 50s by Japanese standard lol.

There is a running joke among viewers that all of the child actors/actress are A-lister consciously living their second life. All of them act like they have 10+ years on their resume, casting director did a really good job.

Teppei and Reo is canonically not *that* similar LMAO.

It would be a shocking twist if they changed Teppei into someone different in that footage (Matsuzaka Tori , Bando Ryota, or anyone from lion no kakurega/mikami sensei/neighboring set for example).

Ever since writing Kamen Rider Build (a banger btw), Muto Shogo seems struggling to write a decent script for the normal 10 episode format.
