Taishi Miwa

the story is a drama material, too short to become a movie. a 5-7 episode drama would be great.

This is a bit silly, almost all character can speak Japanese. Should've making it more realistic by having the character speak in their own languages.

Oguri aged well IMO. For me Jun Matsumoto is the one who looks much different right now.

More/Less it's a combination between Hero and 99.9 but with scientific experiment, and i love it when the lawyer doesn't have a 100% win rate.

Fun fact about this drama:

-Following the show's success. there was a plan to make a non-interconnected / spiritual sequel (something like the vengeance trilogy/"no Senso" series) set in Kasukabe,Matsudo (Abe Sadao's hometown), and/or Nishi Funbashi, but they scrap the plan.
-"Yassai Mossai" dance become popular because of the show.
-The script for episode 3 was made in 1995.
-Kudo Kankuro was interested to make another sequel (with the current cast), sometimes after World Series (2nd movie), but he said that everything was under Isoyama's approval. it's either she had enough or can't come with a fresh idea.

unnecessary remake.

You're not alone. Sawajiri is too old to play 15 y.o Aya and Nishikido is stale in this drama. Without Aya's parents this show will be an average tear-jerking J-dramas.

Objectively speaking yes, Great acting by the main cast (especially the parents),but technical-wise this is average for J-drama.

Subjectively speaking I found this drama have it's own charm, that's what makes this drama special for me (and probably the others too). the show makes you sympathize with the main character and the family.

The movie is not connected to the series. The movie is a much more faithful adaptation of the original story, since some of the character in the series is fictional (for drama purposes). But overall it's the same stories.

Pandemic ruin their plan. initially it should be 11-12 episode long.

Agreed, but having murder case also making it unique rather than a silly case like stealing class money or missing school equipment.

Why Moai becomes poor? if i'm not mistaken, his wife in possession of his family money and he only have something like JPY 100.000 and cashing all of his money+Kindaichi's to make Miracle Thermos. Nikaido is the only one that's unexplained why she ends up in the slum, i assume that she's a prodigal and doesn't have enough money.

probably they're going to keep it for next season, also you know that it never explicitly said that Linda is Obana's ex-gf.

Up in the air, since Rinko haven't met Obana after Michelin Awarding Ceremony, Kyouno being professional at work, and After episode 9 they drop the "love triangle" angle. IMO, Obana seems want to rekindle his relationship with Linda.

Obana: Joining l'ambroisse (cmiiw) sister restaurant as their head chef. Work at his mentor family restaurant during daytime.

Aizawa: Return to France as promised prior joining GMT as a (full-time) chef.

Shohei: open his own restaurant during the time skip, with Miyu and Moe join him.

Only Rinko,Kyouno, and Kanna (and probably Serita) that stay in GMT.

If you're kinda confused with the ending:

Nihon series have the true ending IMO, Busan's time of death match ucchie's narration (1 year after his "revival") at the end of the original series. While in this movie Busan still live for another year after his diagnosis at the end of the second film. Although it's never confirmed by the show's creator (cmiiw) and Nihon Series' 30 years later segment may be a misdirection/non-canon, i think that this movie is just an alternate ending.

But they're teasing something BIG for the next one.
