after watching the lst ep i too thought that by elope the meant to die as the last see of them vanishing is shown....but then it striked me then after they left jianh yu still recieved a postcard and a promise to send more with beautiful images ...so it might be that they left to not cause teoubke to their loved ones and later died of old age
