You're right talent is not needed that much if you have looks. I agree with the Chinese drama thing, the acting is not that good but I watch them for fun. K-dramas definitely have better plot and acting.

I have a genuine question why is HyeKyo so famous if she can only act monotone? I only got into kdramas at the start of 2020 and spent way too much time binging on kdramas of the last 5 years. So when I started watching DOTS I couldn’t get through it and didn’t understand the hype around it. I didn’t understand why I didn’t like it until I saw her in this, it was because she acted very monotonous in that too.
On Now, We Are Breaking Up Nov 26, 2021
I was waiting for it to get better but the latest episode was just not it. Especially Hye Kyo, there’s no emotion from her in scenes where there should be. The writer has tried to make Hye Kyo’s character mature but she just comes off as robotic. She’s playing a 38 year old, so I don’t expect her to act all cutesy (it would be annoying if she did) but she’s not even showing normal emotion in places she should be. The dialogue delivery is also very monotone. Watch WWW, it's all about career oriented women and older woman/younger guy trope. Ki-yong is the male lead there too. Unfortunately, I’ll be dropping this show even though I was super excited for it.

He’s essentially playing the same role as he did in WWW, but that show was farrrrrr better.

Also search that is it paedo if an adult falls in love with a teen, it’ll show you what I’m trying to say. They should have made it a College story honestly.

Idk what the hell you're talking about. An adult falling in love with a teen is paedophilia. He/she doesn't need to be attracted to all children. If he/she is attracted to A child its paedo period.

And we're allow to critique art and real life. It's just my opinion, you don't need to come here and tell me why my opinion is wrong or how art imitates life. It's okay for them to show it, if they also show that it is wrong. Or else it's promoting and romanticising it.

This is exactly my point. They shouldn't be making such stuff and if they are then should highlight that its not right instead of romanticising it.

and that’s my problem, why are we still doing these tropes in 2021? Why did they have to make him have a crush on her? I don’t understand why you trying so hard to justify these relationships. Its under the teacher- student trope. Romantic music plays when they are on screen together. What is literally happening? Also I didn’t watch Doctors either for this reason and it was weird then and its weird now. I thought people would have some braincells to not justify it in 2021. She’s literally not setting proper boundaries and people are calling her naive? What 30 year old women is naive and doesn’t know how to act around students? She’s the adult so all of this situation will eventually fall on her, as it should. It’s just not right. They need to stop making these shows and people like you need to stop defending it. How many mental cartwheels did you do for that logic?

yeah and I don’t watch them either. Look up what pedophilia is and gender is absolutely relevant to this conversation, because reverse the role and reactions would be completely different. Y’all let women get away with anything and call them naive? What 30 year old women is naive? You just don’t wanna accept that women also are doing this shit. Also most all Japanese dramas have weird plots. I’m talking about k-dramas here, so why are you bringing up anything else? Why are we still doing this in 2021? ‘Not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea’? Just say that you like to romanticise these relationships and move on.

This is absolutely not a taboo concept. It’s illegal and purely wrong. Why romanticise a teacher-student relationship? Are all the other tropes dead? Calling it taboo is not right because it gives the sense that it is something that the society does not accept but should be accepted, which is again not right. The power dynamics and the fact that he is playing a literal underage teen is weird. Also the fact that people would never take it well if it was a male teacher showing extra attention to a female student. People would call him a pedo and not naive. I don’t know why such talented actors decided to take on such a project and romanticise something that is not romantic or cute. Because we all know they will become lovers as the show progresses.

Title Love Is Sweet Spoiler
So how are Du Lei and the girl that's always around him rated? Are they siblings? Or married? Or something else?…
From what I understand they are siblings, but step-siblings. The girl is hella weird. I couldn’t believe that they were actually siblings. Because in that scene where she is drunk and comes to his house and is all over him just made me feel like she loves him or something. In a non-sibling way.

I think it was more of don’t leave me like everyone else did. He clearly has abandonment issue after all the important people in his life left. He was remembering them but saying it to her, because she’s become important to him now. That’s how I interpreted it.
