i feel like they should have cast Shao Wei in the role of Fu Ruan’s first love instead of wasting his aesthetics and synergy with Nana on the one they had him in and actually focused on the conflict and dynamics between Cheng Lin, Fu Ruan, and her first love. that would have made this otherwise well done drama all the more engaging and intriguing. hopefully, Fu Ruan’s first love makes a re-entry in the story in s2 and we’ll get to see much more angst, romance, and passion between the protagonists as well. i just have to say, Jian Qi and Nana look sooo ✨🔥✨ together. aesthetically speaking, Nana simply has to be Jian Qi’s best pairing. in fact, this is literally the first time i’ve seen a lead actress actually and so totally eclipse Jian Qi’s aesthetics and screen presence, which is testament to Nana’s goddess-level beauty and aura.

edit: this drama is now the #1 most watched chinese short drama at 600 million views. congratulations to the entire team 🎉✨🎈

What kind of connection does Yong Tak has with the main female lead?
I believe they used to like each other. It isn’t clear whether they dated.

i do as well but i think part of it has to do with me always finding her voice/line delivery annoying.
I haven’t been paying attention to her voice. But after reading your comment, I’m gonna be pricking my ears up during the next episode. Haha.

To everyone that thinks the Do Ki-Ha Na love line is forced, I say look again. This isn’t a typical romance drama or a drama with high emphasis on romance. Neither are Do Ki & Ha Na characters capable of typical romance to begin with. Yes, they aren’t always around each other. They don’t interact all the time. But whenever they do, the attraction/chemistry/tension is palpable. Although it’s vague on Ha Na’s part, you can see it rather apparently on Do Ki’s in certain scenes. He definitely “takes notice” of her. I think what’s great about their equation, is the subtlety of their attraction. Having them interact more than they’ve been would not only have broken the flow & tone of the drama, but it’d have also been very out of character for both. Also, it’s been obvious from the start that Do Ki cares for Go Eun in a sibling-like manner.

Okay. I feel really awful to say this explicitly when everyone’s working real hard on this, but the acting is seriously getting more & more awkward & out of sync with the character (On Dal). I can’t even tell who IW is playing. It just looks like he’s playing some random Gorguryeo guy who could be just about anyone. I could barely sit through this episode without getting fidgety & restless. The chemistry between SH & IW is already faltering as well.

You must know very well that two actors can portray one charcter in a different way. I really want people to stop…
I mean no hate on In Woo at all. I appreciated & enjoyed his work in Mr Queen very much. I also think that had it been Go Geon’s character they recasted him in (although Ji Hoon is perfect in it), he would have camouflaged in it like a chameleon. On Dal, on the other hand, is a more delicate character who has one side (the pure-hearted, happy-go-lucky fool) he openly shows everyone, & one hidden side (his vengeance) that comes out once in a while. Ji Soo‘s On Dal clearly and successfully showed this two distinct sides through subtle nuances. His voice modulation, body language & gaze changed for a split second whenever he came close to breaking his promise to his father but held it in. This is where In Woo’s On Dal falls flat and if I may, inconsistent. An example of this is in On Dal & Go Geon’s fight scene where In Woo’s On Dal came off rather agitative, which is in conflict with On Dal’s character.

You made a fair point. But it isn’t just about the portrayal of a character. It’s more & most importantly about maintaining the integrity of the character.

After watching Ep 9, I’m glad that the story at least is still intact. Here’s the thing. There’s nothing wrong with In Woo’s acting or looks. He looks fine, acts fine, & delivered the dialogues just fine. The problem is, it wasn’t On Dal. It somehow didn’t feel like On Dal. His portrayal came across as rather too mature & “clean/smart” for the character (at least in this adaptation of the story). The goofy, happy-go-lucky side also looked a little forced, to be honest.

Title Love Alarm Season 2 Spoiler
And after 5 years HY hits on his friend’s exgrilfriend lol
In the scene where she talks about the video of Sun Oh in her classroom going viral, JoJo explains that the ‘past’ her would have run away from the situation. Which is what she did when she was with Sun Oh, after the accident in season 1. She put herself before Sun Oh then. But the ‘present’ her could only think about Hye Young’s feelings & going to him. She now puts Hye Young before herself. This is perhaps the best proof of JoJo’s true feelings. Because this is how love works.

No, she wouldn’t have. When Sun Oh told her that they would still be together if not for the app, JoJo replies that their break up would have happened regardless of it because she herself chose to do so. The shield however ended up serving a different purpose. Without the shield, she never would have had the chance to understand her true feelings & instead, would have relied solely on the app to dictate her feelings. This is what Duk Gu tells Hye Young. That she chose Hye Young not simply because of the app, but out of her own free will because she genuinely fell for him.

I believe she was caught by surprise by his unexpected move & therefore froze. When he tried to touch her face after that though, she turned away. In fact, in the scene right after that, her name disappears from Hye Young’s list of people who will like him. And as Duk Gu explained at the end, it disappeared because she already was in love with him at that moment.

Title Love Alarm Season 2 Spoiler
It’s fair to say that JoJo wronged Sun Oh by breaking up with him without any plausible explanation. But we all make regrettable choices. In my opinion, they both ended up with the right person for them. JoJo & Sun Oh are somewhat similar in that they both have major unresolved issues; issues that silently manifested in their relationship. Their equation was passionate & all consuming, yet felt rather superficial & oblivious. Realistically, it couldn’t survive the long haul. Whereas, Yuk Jo is to Sun Oh what Hye Young is to JoJo - the stabilizing factor they both so badly need in their lives while they heal themselves and grow into a wholesome person capable of maintaining a healthy relationship with someone else, at their own pace. What I took from this in the end, was that not everyone we love in our lifetime, regardless of how deeply or passionately, is meant for us & sometimes, that’s nobody’s fault. Love worth keeping is patient, unconditional, & gracious, & that’s the love we all deserve.

Thank you for saying that. I also value the talent of an actor as their personal life is not my business.I'd watch…
Indeed. There’s all this different sets of opinions we all have about what’s happened. Some of us would nevertheless prefer to continue with the original & some would rather the new. This way, each of us would have the freedom to choose the one we’d like to watch (regardless of incompletion).
