He has one of those faces. We're having a crisis fancasting Xie Lian now because Luo Yunxi can't be Xie Lian now!
And that kind of devolved into a "cheap road to fame", because BL adaptations like Guardian and The Untamed have propelled a lot of actors into A-list stardom like a rocket launcher, so now every not famous actor is trying to squeeze themselves into a BL casting. Which may or may not result in fan disappointment and fast food entertainment by the end of it all
It was a big success for the fandom I gotta say. Personally I think Leo is the best choice for this character…
Yeah, honestly this drama has the best casting I've ever seen, in dramaland in general and not just in the BL landscape. They got so many veteran actors whom has embedded themselves in the Chinese public consciousness, supporting actors who look nice and fits their role and isn't that obscure, and our main quartet who you can only nitpick over. And the whole package is headed by the "holy frack we actually got what we wanted???" fancast favorite that is Yunxi.
He has one of those faces. We're having a crisis fancasting Xie Lian now because Luo Yunxi can't be Xie Lian now!
There's also an influx of fancasting Luhan as Xie Lian, since his character in Fighter of Destiny is remarkably spot on. Except that Luhan is way too famous to conceivably be in a BL drama, as the rumor goes. (BL drama adaptations in China are always done by actors whom aren't that well known since that way they don't have anything to lose when it comes to acting in something so controversial. So it came as a doubly surprise that Immortality got Yunxi because he was already pretty famous)
if im not wrong, shi mei like chu wanning, and mo ran misunderstanding it. so, shi mei is mo ran rivals in love.…
It's like, both Shi Mei and Mo Ran both liked Chu Wanning from the start, but because of some plot meddling thing, Shi Mei got Mo Ran to fall in love with him, while he still loves Chu Wanning. So, at the start of the drama Mo Ran likes Shi Mei who he thinks likes him back, but as the plot goes on he figures out he actually likes Chu Wanning, then the plot continues some more it is revealed that Shi Mei actually likes Chu Wanning and not Mo Ran.
Have to say, 2ha lucked out so hard. Literally everyone has been fancasting Luo Yunxi as their favorite BL protagonists since 2018 and Ashes of Love, and now Immortality has got him as Chu Wanning. I can hear fans of Qiang Jin Jiu and Scum Villain's Self Saving System gashing their teeth right now
Absolutely this! This show has a special place in my heart because it's the first Chinese drama I've seen that actually depicts depression, and not in a condemned or comedic way. Yingzi breaks down and gets back up through therapy and medication and love from family and friends, and those things aren't trivialized nor brushed away as "oh children are so delicate these days."
