Tho the best antagonist in this was probably the queen dowager, it was very interesting how she was criticized for having toy boys and interfering with internal state which is pretty normal for the king to be like that. With that said she was pure evil ready to do anything to have power even killing her own son and basically r//ping the general i was very taken back by that. Overall I would give this a 6 just for the good side characters. Also if you are not into sad ending don't watch this

I just wanna say something to the people who recomanended this to me I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED. Where do I start?!? What got me to watch this originally was Bai lu as her previous works were one of my favs in this drama she was a sunflower in the sense that all her existence was for her master the ml you might think she is the FL what's her role?? since she became the disciple of the great general, is she physically strong or smart or at least charismatic with any bit of personality the answer is no!! All she does in the drama is wanting to be with her master, where is master,is master okay, can't live without master. She even manages to put him in trouble a couple of times. At this point you might think at least the romance is good, well the romance is one of the blandest most boring part of this drama it just consists of longing gazes and repeated cliche tropes and spoiler alert they can't be together since he can't get married, I honestly fast forwarded a lot of their "romantic" scenes. Now up to the ml he is a very mature selfless general who cares about the well being of his nephew (s) being the good uncle and his people, honestly he is not a bad character it's just that he is not charismatic, I don't know how to describe it he is very meh. If anything I liked the side characters more like shiyi cousin and his tragic romance arc, her mother and uncle, some of the battle scenes (that don't include the ml) are actually quite impressive, the music choice is top notch. Now the second ml (and antagonist) the actor is only 19 but he is done a good job

Man, coming into it I sure didnt have high hopes but everything about it was top notch I just wish I could see little yunqi grow up the last minute of the last eps was a little bit out of nowhere but overall it was one hell of a ride gonna miss this drama a lot! Getting withdrawal symptoms after this need a new historical /xianxia drama that is as good as this

Fun fact I can't bear watching this even if they pay me, I may watch and maybe manage finishing mediocre ones but I can't just pick this up even when I am extremely bored. Something about it is just so off to me.
