I am a Filipina who loves to watch Chinese historical dramas. If I am not mistaken it was Ten Miles of Peach Blossom which first caught my eye followed by The Story of Yanxi Palace, The Legend of Fuyao, The Empress of China, and the rest is history.

I take a liking of the stories, since it is historically based, its twists and turns; how the protagonist faces the antagonists, plus the colorful costumes which depicted the time of the setting. I also admire the actors who portray the different characters. A plus factor is their body language which supports their lines and makes every line believable.

In addition to these, I also fell in love with the dramas original sound track or theme song. I searched the net for their translations and have made a compilation of soundtracks on Spotify that I listen to when I do my work or want to relax.

I am a huge fan of 于朦胧 (Alan Yu). I first saw him on Ten Miles of Peach Blossom and was mesmerized by his charms. I didn't know who he was back then and found out who he was after two years when I was searching Youtube for another Chinese drama.  

During the two years, I have been watching more Chinese dramas. This leads to me liking also Chow Yun Fat, Jackie Chan, Mark Chao, Zhang Zhe Han, Cesar Wu, Yang Yang, Leon Lai Yi, Huang Junjie, Wang Yibo, Xiao Zhan, Peter Sheng, Veng Gao, Deng Lun, and a lot more. I cannot fail to mention Sandra Ma, Ju Jingyi, Yang Mi, Yang Zi, Wu Jinyan, Yukee Chen, Xing Fei, Zhou Xun, Dilraba Dilmurat, Zhang Ziyi, and a lot more.

I learned to appreciate Chinese films because of my late father. I would accompany him and watch old films of Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat on cable tv, although they were already dubbed either in English or Tagalog.
