I didn't mind the theatrical feeling this drama had -- I thought it gave it an amusing Shakespearean feel. BUT the FL annoyed the sht outta me and there wasn't much chemistry between the leads. The romance was too center stage for it to be as boring and dragged out as it was. I feel kinda bad saying this 'cause I like this actress, but I spent the majority of the time hoping she'd die or let him go just to give me a break from their boring af romance. Honestly, I wish they'd made a whole drama about Richie instead of wasting her character as a supporting role or the shop owner's grandson because his whole story seems way more interesting. Basically, I think this drama suffers from having side characters who have way more potential of a good story than the actual leads. I'll still recommend it though if you have nothing else to watch and you're in the mood for some fantasy.
Hye Young telling Sun Ho he was being too selfish annoyed the shit out of me. Saying “you only think about how you feel but never about how JoJo feels” but liKe she literally had a special app feature to NOT LET SUN HO KNOW HOW SHE FELT. This show did my guy dirty honestly. Sun Ho deserved so much more than being the pining, pathetic side character mess the writers made him out to be. If they weren’t gonna be endgame, they should’ve given him more scenes showing him moving on and growing closer to the other girl. I went into this knowing she’d end up with HY so I wasn’t too disappointed with the end couple but dang they didn’t have to completely push Sun Ho aside like that when he was the only one with a decent character growth setup :(
I don’t understand the bad reviews for this show. It wasn’t incredible but it was...fine? Definitely not the horrible drama the reviews make it out to be. It was a ripe plot for a romance drama and should’ve been given more episodes for the story to feel more developed but other than that I enjoyed watching it.
this drama is cotton candy kinda sweet but i think i still prefer the chinese version. first, for me, the ML’s aloofness was a big part of the charm in the story and while i think this actor did a great job, the character wasn’t for me. second, i liked the lead actress in “lovestruck in the city” but i didn’t think she fit this role very well. lastly, the thing i loved most about the cdrama was the pacing but this version felt more rushed which watered down the characters a little too much. that disappointed me a lot...when i heard there was going to be a remake i was hoping they’d go even more in depth but they did the opposite. in the end, it’s definitely worth the watch if you need something light and fluffy ‘cause that’s what it was made for! but i’ll still recommend the original ✌️
